This Journey with Jim was so incredible.
This sweet, powerful, poetic Creature, whisked into my vortex and I was filled with inspiration from the get go.
The Shoot was on that misty morning in December where the mist stayed around till midday! Maybe you remember it? At one point I was chasing the mist, but then the mist started chasing us, and it literally moved through our shoot. This freshness in the air was so creative, transformative and thrilling! In awe at life we were, as we journeyed in uninhibited expression, with the camera and the tunes, at Tallows headland.
I was very present to the fact that a lot of the time I am celebrating the female form in nature. But actually, seeing the male form, merged with nature, was just as beautiful.
These photos are very dear to me. So much strength, cheekiness, high spirited magic…and Becoming Art.
Yes, Men and Women are very different, but I do notice the similarities. Sensitive hearts, big dreams, clarity, confusion, loss, highlights, ambition, students of life……a pendulum from insecurity to confidence….. wanting to be seen…..and yearning to feel the deepest love within and have that deep love met. Oh what a journey to be alive. I just love it.
When a Man is vulnerable and real, I find it really powerful. I know many Men and Women are not there yet, and that's ok.....step by step. Vulnerability is still seen as a weakness a lot of the time, however vulnerability is this gateway to deeper connection, healing, and into knowing yourself deeply. The more you know yourself, the more magnetic you become, in my experience. Also, bottling up our emotions is not healthy. “Feel it, free it, and be creative”, I say. We are all human, with emotions, highs and lows. Time to be really gentle, patient, loving, curious, present and REAL. Imagine if everyone on earth nurtured themselves, each-other and the earth, with tenderness.....
So yes, it was such a wondrous journey to hold space for Jim, in his full range of expression. I love seeing Men being creative, bold, soft, primal, powerful, intense, gentle....whatever comes.
I feel like many of these shots should win awards! Yes, I am tooting my own horn. LOL. There are some really epic, tasteful, jaw dropping, artful shots that sadly won’t make the net.
