A gorgeous crowd today at the Lismore March for Forests 🌿 A rally for strong native forest protection which brought out beautiful families and all the local conservation groups, led by the Bob Brown Foundation. Lots of fun to do face painting for the first time in over a year (!!!) and I think I had some happy customers 🌈🌞

Two weeks at the Amazon Shelter in Peru was magic 🌟 🌿 These wonderful people are so dedicated to rehabilitating and releasing monkeys back into the jungle, after being rescued from the illegal wildlife pet trade. Magali is such an inspiration - she raised this shelter from an idea and a passion into the incredible sanctuary it is today. I love to contribute with art anywhere I go, and practicing my calligraphy by making some signage was a great opportunity and challenge. It was especially fun to do it as part of a team - big hugs to Claire and Bryan for helping me with the cleaning, planning, and heavy lifting. And thank you Amazon Shelter, for saving these beautiful creatures and inspiring visitors from all over the world 🐵🌈

If you always wanted to spend your life hanging out in a tree, sleeping 20 hours a day, and being the cutest thing in existence, then your time has come. For a moment, you can experience the koala lifestyle while learning about nature and raising awareness for conservation. I painted this mural last year, and it was so much fun to bring it to markets for kids (big and small) to play with. Fighting for wildlife can't be all doom and gloom, otherwise we all get burnt out and hopeless. Let's keep it light when we can, inspire joy and love for our precious animals, and the fighting spirit will naturally emerge with passion. Here's to educating and empowering the next generation of Aussie wildlife carers 🌿🐨🩷✨️village

In the jungles of Nepal, I found the most beautiful and intelligent creatures. Elephants are so clever and conscious, and they made me realise that humans are definitely not the smartest animal on the planet. So when I saw them being chained up by the government and hotel owners looking to make easy money from tourist rides, I was furious. And I so badly wanted to cut those chains and set them free. But I couldn't. I wanted to help somehow, so an angel named Coranne found me and told me about an elephant sanctuary she works with. Elephant Care Nepal (ECN) is a family with a mission to stop elephant ride tourism in Chitwan and transition to ethical encounters which respect these amazing animals. The Nepalese government made it illegal to release elephants back into the wild, so ECN is making the most of a bad situation. If they had unlimited funding, they'd buy all 40 elephants in Chitwan and give them a safe, comfortable retirement. I like what this family is trying to do, so I offered some artistic support - a hand painted sign and digital flyers. I wanted to make ripples - the more people who know about this, the more help the elephants will get, hopefully. If you want to be part of the change, they'd be so grateful for a donation. I had a vision, actually more of a feeling, of this idea during an intense breathwork experience. It felt like if I just surrendered to the Mother, she would hold me in her hands and let me melt into the gooey soul soup that is our collective consciousness ✨️🕉

So I drew it. And I drew it again. And again. And I just wasn't satisfied with it staying hidden in my sketchbook forever. So I asked the owner of the hostel I was staying at if I could create a mural. He told me to pick a wall and give him a shopping list for the paint, which was the absolutely ideal answer to my request.

So here she is, the first of a series of murals I can feel coming to life. Thanks to my beautiful friends for the support 💜

And that's a wrap! I'm officially retired from face painting 😄
I've had so much fun doing this for the past 18 months. It has made me into a much more creative, patient, compassionate, and flexible human, and allowed me to bring a lot of joy and colour to kids and their parents. It's time to keep moving forward now, but you'll still find me at the Eumundi Markets. My real passion in life is Aussie wildlife, so my new market stall will be focused on educating people about our native flora and fauna 🌿🐨 I'll still be painting at the occasional festival though, I couldn't give it up forever!

On a side note, today I got the most brutal reaction from a kid who HATED his face paint. It was a pickachu, albeit not my best work, but I did try! Anyway, he broke down in tears and screamed at his dad, who apologetically paid me and hauled his son away, who was having a full-blown conniption at this point. The little girl who was next in line wouldn't come up. Likely, she assumed that I would disappoint her as badly, if not worse.

You can't have a fragile ego working with kids...
