RIPE Dance is an Alliance member. We take falls prevention seriously and incorporate evidence based falls prevention exercises into our dance warm ups and sequences. Keeping our dancers upright on their feet and ageing well.

Falls prevention is everyone’s responsibility.

Sir Stephen Fry (comedian, actor, writer, and presenter) recently shared details of a serious fall that caused multiple broken bones and other injuries (https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2026/apr/29/stephen-fry-sues-tech-conference-organisers-for-100000-over-fall-from-stage).

His story is a reminder that falls can happen to anyone, and that preventing falls is everyone’s business.

Creating safer environments benefits people of all ages. Clearly marked fall and trip hazards, good lighting, safe walkways, clear edges, handrails, and thoughtful event and workplace design all play a key role in reducing falls risk.

Falls prevention isn’t just about older people, it’s about creating safer environments for everyone.

We love visitors and what an honour it was to have Professor Cathie Sherrington take time out from her short coast break to join our Yes, You Can Dance! Class last Friday in Noosa! Cathie is part of the research team working with us for the past 3 years evaluating our program. Cathie is Professor at Sydney School of Public Health, The University of Sydney and is Deputy Director of the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health and leads the 40-person Physical Activity, Ageing and Disability Research Stream within the Institute. Thanks Cathie for visiting and dancing with us!
