Named after Dr Don Hopgood and his late wife, Raelene for their considerable services to the community and art scene, the Hopgood Theatre is a beautiful theatre in the south of Adelaide. A short 35 minute drive from the CBD, this theatre has housed professional productions by the State Theatre Company, Melbourne Comedy Festival, HIT Productions and Perth Theatre Company, as well as many others. It

is also a great community based Venue, providing affordable venue services to dance companies, community theatre groups and schools. The Hopgood Theatre remains an excellent and well-maintained Venue, and is currently being managed by Country Arts SA. Ticket Bookings are available at the Box Office or over the phone, during the times above and on our website any time.

Hopgood Theatre is hosting a special event this National Reconciliation Week and the whole community is invited.

The 2026 National Reconciliation Week Community Art Exhibition will be available from Friday 22nd May to Tuesday 9th June. The art pieces on display have been collected from across Onkaparinga, showcasing art that was created for Reconciliation Week events in our southern community, since 2018.

Thank you to the following places who have kindly donated their art for the community to enjoy:
- Seaford Secondary College
- AnglicareSA; Communities for Children & HIPPY Onkaparinga
- Diverse Learning
- Department of Human Services
- Joining Hands and Minds Network

Please come along and enjoy the works, participate by using the colouring sheets for this year’s theme All In for reconciliation, and while you’re there, don’t forget to check out the program for the Nunga Screen, which is a showcase of First Nations storytellers and filmmakers.

This year’s National Reconciliation Week (NRW) theme, All In, is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself; it takes all of us to champion the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’.

National Reconciliation Week which is held every year on 27 May – 3 June, these dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey, the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.
