We have wrapped up our first six-week course in botanical drawing and watercolour at the Hygēa Apothecary in Newcastle. It was a delight to see each painter build their skills week after week and establish a foundation in botanical watercolour. Each painter described being in a flow state through mindful practice as a key benefit, relishing the time to slow down with surrender and trust in the process in the nurturing space of the apothecary.

Week by week, they built botanical drawing and watercolour skills while developing a more intuitive connection to the natural world and their own artistry. Cath and Jessika, the medicinal herbalists at the apothecary, shared the healing wisdom of Calendula and Ginger and the painted their way to completed, beautiful and confident artworks.

The next course is starting soon for the Spring season.

The medicinal quality of herbs and plants has mystical and scientific beauty. Combined with botanical drawing and watercolour painting, it’s a magical, deeply rewarding and healing way to explore your creativity.

If you have ever thought about painting watercolour in botanical style - this is it!

Join us at the Hygea Apothecary to draw and paint with me and learn about the herbs and plants from the herbalists.

Ridiculously excited to share with you a brand new six week course in drawing and watercolour, a collob between the Hygea Apothecary and me (creative Queen Bees) in Newcastle.

Cath and Jessika are medical herbalists making personalised natural remedies from healing herbs and plants. The beautiful Apothecary they have created in Newcastle is a joy to visit and the most perfect space for botanical drawing and watercolour - deeply grounded and nurturing.

We share an aligned ethos in supporting women’s wellbeing, health and creativity. 💕

Butterflies in the garden and not in your tummy!

I say this because it can be daunting coming to an art class if you have never painted before.

I promise you, the nervous butterflies you might have about picking up a paint brush to paint watercolour is very typical of most VIPs (very important painters) that enjoy my workshops and guaranteed there are more butterflies in the garden at .of.bolwarra then in your tummy!

Cute - but I think you get the idea of what I’m trying to say.
