From the African bushveld to the Hunter Valley, animals have always held a place in Christelle Grey’s imagination.

Born in South Africa and now living locally, .grey paints the wildlife of her memories alongside the Australian animals that have become part of her life here.

Working slowly in thin layers of oil, she waits for each subject’s individual character to emerge.

The result is something wonderfully intimate: a meeting between the animal, the artist and the person standing before the painting.
