Ocean baths, historic forts, public parks and full theatre takeovers - as we get ready to present at national arts market APAX next week, we’ve put together a tender snapshot of Whale Chorus productions from 2022-2025.

Big-hearted stories and boundary pushing theatre that centres community, place and the voices of our region. So touching to look back on all the artists and audiences who have shaped this with us ❤️

📢 AUDITION CALL OUT 📢

We are seeking actors for our 2026 season of Shakespeare Under the Stars.

This November Whale Chorus will be presenting our fifth season of Shakespeare Under the Stars with a new production of a Shakespeare tragedy at Fort Scratchley.

We are currently casting for locally based professional actors to play a variety of roles. Please note this is a professional engagement at LPA (Live Performance Award) rates.

Relive the moments from 'Meet Me at the Baths'. Premiering at New Annual festival last year, 'Meet Me at the Baths' is a new work of site specific community embedded theatre. We transformed the 100 year old Newcastle Ocean Baths into a living theatre and told the heartfelt, funny and stranger-than-ficton stories of this place.

Just two weeks left until our Linklater Voice Weekend Intensive.

Voice coach and director Janie Gibson will lead you through an immersion in the world renown Linklater Voice technique. Through exercises in breath awareness, relaxation, connection to voice vibration, opening the throat and strengthening the resonators you can explore a more embodied connection to your natural speaking voice.

Your natural voice has a 2-4 octave speaking range and the ability to express the full gamut of human emotion and all the nuance of thought and feeling. Through practical exercise you can unlock more or your potential and power in your voice and expression.

This play is everywhere right now! Our Hamlet lit up Fort Scratchley last December with an immersive multiverse created by this incredible village of artists.

Upcoming Weekend Intensive in Linklater Voice

Join Whale Chorus Artistic Director and vocal coach Janie Gibson in a weekend intensive in the world renown Linklater Voice training for both actors and non–actors.

In this workshop you will awaken your connection to your natural speaking voice through exercises in relaxation, breath awareness, feeling voice vibrations in the body, opening the throat, strengthening the resonators and enlivening articulation. Curious beginners to experienced performers are welcome!
