IMPORTANT PSA: SATURDAY 27 NOV - THURSDAY 10 DEC 2021, Galerie Shangri-Lah has the absolute honour to be showing Newcastle's 'What Were You Wearing?' exhibition.
An upcoming exhibition, adapted by Sarah Williams, and inspired by the University of Kansas.
The aim is to defeat the stigma that sexual assault happens because of what someone is wearing. The ‘What Were You Wearing?’ Exhibition challenges participants to engage with the universal connection we have with clothing and reflect on what gives this specific r**e culture myth so much power. To put clothing on is so basic and common, to take that action and conflate it with pain and suffering taints not only the individual outfit for the survivor; but also calls into question all simplistic and normal behaviours as dangerous.
