Great working with the great and talented CheeWei Tay on this material for NOVA.

Chee Wei recently completed composing an updated theme music for the American flagship science documentary series, NOVA, in celebration of its 50th anniversary.

Over its 50-year history, NOVA has presented discoveries and mind-blowing science phenomena across numerous disciplines.

As the most popular primetime science series on American television, NOVA reaches more than 55 million Americans each year across its multimedia, multiplatform brand. The series has been honored with every major broadcast industry award, solidifying its reputation as a leader in science communication and education.

“It’s a real honor to be asked to compose the new theme for such an important series, and frankly, a little daunting!” Chee Wei recalls.

The music was recorded and mixed at Red Road Immersive, Mastered by Eric Wong and features Trumpet solo Anthony Norris and Guitars by Michael H. Amundson. Project managed and administered by Two Shes Productions

Love this new AVID MTRX that's been added to Red Road's Dolby Atmos workflow. Sounds very transparent and teamed with the DAD MOM Monitor Controller provides a very versatile monitoring path. With Danté feeding a Focusrite PCIeR card in a second Mac Pro, there's processing power for days. Add the AVID Hybrid Engine and it's a beast.
Notice the 2 Cisco switches. One for the Danté network, One for EUCON and general IP duties, and a third unseen switch for ethernet to the D-Command. Rock solid!

LITTLE TORNADOES is the first feature film to be mixed at the new Dolby Atmos studio, Red Road Immersive.
The Melbourne International Film Festival screening dates have also been announced: the World Premiere will be held on 12th August at The Capitol Theatre. Such an exquisite space for a film's first public outing.

So after doing a couple of projects with the side-facing Pro Tools edit bay, which did keep the D-Command nice and clear, I decided to grab a few more toys, including an AVID Dock & MTRX, DAD MOM controller, Apple touch pad, and a few more monitors and try a forward facing setup. This is perfect for laying up and pre-mixing and can quickly revert to the side-bay and D-Command if required once the mix is commenced. Having a clear perspex rest made to keep the D-Command in pristine condition.
Will be getting a couple of S1's shortly, so we have every mix option covered. Love the sound of the MTRX! And a big improvement with the new Hybrid Engine from AVID. 2048 voices and DSP for days with 2 HDX cards.
With an external renderer running on Danté through a Focusrite Rednet PCIeR and Video Sync 5 on a third Mac Pro, this system is epic!
