Most of our displays lean into the fun side of learning - a little light‑hearted, a little playful, and always grounded in real marine science.

Our nudibranch sign is a perfect example. Tiny sea slugs, big personalities, and more strange and wonderful facts than you’d ever expect from something the size of a fingernail.

That’s the spirit running through the whole exhibit this month.

Well, it’s done. Installed and ready for viewing.

You know, I honestly would’ve thought people wouldn’t be interested in our mini‑series about stands.

I assumed everyone would be more excited about things like:

our new signs,

the new penguin display,

the gravity‑defying nudis,

the brand‑new interactive exhibit,

our new mascot, Atlas,

or even the entire seahorse collection — including the freshly built 1.5‑metre seahorse made entirely out of paper.

But who am I to judge.

So enjoy the show for the next month at the VIC Nelson Bay.

Footnote:
Yes, it was a long‑winded joke for a very small pay-off. But I STAND by it.

I’ve done this trip many times - not far, easy drive, one hill, 50 km/h. I’ve got rigging qualifications, worked on cargo ships, and secured these pieces more times than I can count… …but I still get nervous transporting them. Good news though: every stand arrived safely at the VIC.

You might think this plinth is a brand‑new stand.
Nope. Just the old one with a fresh coat of Atlantis‑26 attitude.
If I’m lucky, maybe the sky will take the hint and match the colour too — bump‑in day today.

There’s less than a week to go before we install our exhibition at the Nelson Bay VIC, but you wouldn’t know it from the stance of these stands. Chilling out, not a worry in the world. Happy to do their bit — won’t even get a mention or a sign.

Continuing with our wonderful series of stands for our upcoming exhibition, at the end of this month. These two bad boys were made for our previous exhibition at Tomaree Hall. They will be on display again next month. Designed with a clear acrylic stand and matt black, heavy base, they are almost invisible. In fact, with the lights out, you can't see them at all!
