ACT Natimuk in partnership with Gariwerd Wimmera Reconciliation Network and Regional Arts Victoria (VicHealth grant) are proud to present a Reconciliation Week 2026 event. The theme this is year is 'All in On Reconciliation' and our event 'Storytelling through Film' is an evening of conversation and connection. It connects a lot of what ACT Natimuk does in the space of arts, combining storytelling, film and circus alongside its support for First Peoples, providing a welcoming and safe space for all community to come and learn, reflect and enjoy powerful storytelling through film.

The event features a screening and conversation with Dylan Singh around The Story of Becoming Nala, a short film based on Alan Murphy and Chrissie Secombes book Becoming Nala, exploring Alan's journey of reconnecting with Country, culture, and identity.

Alan and Chrissie were recipients of ACT Natimuk’s inaugural First Nations Creative Lab grant in 2023/24, and Dylan is the 2024/25 recipient. This work continues to develop through a project that ACT Natimuk are delivering in partnership with Regional Arts Victoria as part of VicHealth 'Shifting the Playbook initiative'.

The evening also includes 'The Colleano Heart', a powerful documentary examining Aboriginal identity through the story of Australia’s famous Colleano circus family. This connects beautifully with Dylan’s background as a second-generation circus performer and ACT Natimuk's own programming with its monthly Circus Jam sessions.

Please join us – the event is free, no booking required, and we will have refreshments during a short intermission break.

DAVE JONES BUSHFIRE RECOVERY FUND

Dave Jones has a long history as an artist in the Wimmera region and was a founding member of ACT Natimuk (formerly known as Arapiles Community Theatre Inc.) He has created works across the region and state, has advocated for the arts and brought joy and amazement to all who see his work.

He suffered devastating losses to his studio, equipment and art in the January 9 2026 Natimuk fire. We are running a fundraiser to help support Dave continue in his practice and work. Have a watch of the video and please consider making a donation.

NATI FRINJ FESTIVAL DIRECTOR 2026/27

With the Nati Frinj 2025 all now done and dusted, it’s time to plan for the 2027 festival. And with that comes the role of the Festival Director. ACT Natimuk is now taking applications for the position.

We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Nati Frinj Biennale Director (2026–27) to lead the next chapter of one of regional Australia’s most exciting arts festivals. This is a unique opportunity to shape a bold, community-connected program that brings together contemporary performance, visual arts, and experimental practice in the heart of Natimuk.

As always, we’re looking for an inspiring leader with strong artistic vision, excellent collaboration skills, and a passion for regional arts. If you’re ready to create an unforgettable festival that celebrates creativity, place, and community—we’d love to hear from you.
Previous applicants are welcome to apply.
