CREATE Festival 2026 – New dates and theme announced! 👏 🥳 🎨

CREATE will kick off on Friday 2 October and run until Sunday 18 October 2026, with “Water” announced as the theme guiding workshops, exhibitions, public art and community activities across the Shire.

We're excited to get planning, build stronger community involvement, and enhance our programming!

A huge thank you to Kavina Kumar, the powerhouse behind the 2025 CREATE Festival! As the Narrabri Shire Council Events Officer and festival director, Kavina brought her passion for storytelling, advocacy, and community connection to life—creating an unforgettable event that truly celebrated creativity in all its forms.

From start to finish, her dedication, vision, and attention to detail ensured that CREATE was not just an event but a space where artists, storytellers, and the community could come together, be inspired, and share in something truly special. Her hard work also helped put Narrabri on the map, welcoming visitors from near and far to experience the creativity and warmth of our town.

Kavina, your hard work and heart shine through in everything you do. Thank you for making this year’s festival such a success! 💛🎨🎶

We had a tough gig, capturing all the beautiful artwork on our DREAM Artist trail - we forgot to anticipate our reflective shop windows 😂But we did manage to get a few lovely shots!

Thank you to all the artists and businesses who got involved to support the arts.

We had wonderful hosts install hanging systems, and even commission artworks, as well as set up future partnerships to host artworks permanently.

This is what we love about our town! Seeing everyone get behind passion, and support local 😍

This alone, signals a spectacular end to CREATE2025… yet, it still feels like just the beginning!

Saturday’s Surreal Dream Collage Workshop hosted by the brilliant .artist was a creative hit! 🤩✨🌈

We had an amazing group of creatives join us from Narrabri, Sydney, Coonabarabran, Moree, and Tamworth, all coming together for a morning of cutting, chatting, and crafting surreal collages.

New friendships were made, creativity flowed, and everyone left feeling inspired! Thanks to all who joined— we can’t wait for the next one!

Last Thursday night we had our Polymer Dreams earring workshop in the pop-up gallery, surrounded by beautiful artwork. 😍 It was a blast! We laughed, we sipped, and we got busy, working on our own unique creations!

Thank you so much for bringing this really special experience to CREATE and for taking us through your process as a creator, an entrepreneur and as a truly lovely human who loves to try new things! 😍

Can’t wait to see more of this!

This was the place to be in Narrabri today! Creating magic with some local legends at our Disability Workshops with Robin Stieger. This year, these workshops were so popular that Robin had to host another afternoon session!! - We also got to have birthday cake!
We are so proud of the work she does, and the community of volunteers who look forward to helping out at this time of year.

We are in awe of the immense talent that frequents these jam-packed, creative sessions, and most of all, the warm welcome, to one and all.

Today, as I (Kavina) left the building, I was told by Lauren, a lovely workshop participant and lover of blue, “thank you for having fun.” 👌🏾
