What You Will Work On
In this session you will train to read a script as a story rather than a set of lines to deliver, develop spontaneous and authentic reaction so that every moment feels real, build the emotional range and flexibility that directors and casting panels are looking for, understand what it takes to walk into an audition room and give a panel a reason to cast you, and discover the power of ensemble work, the trust and connection with fellow actors that makes a performance come alive on screen.

What You Will Take Away
You will leave with a clearer understanding of what separates an actor who gets cast from one who gets thanked and moved on. You will have practical tools you can use immediately in your next audition or on-camera performance, and a genuine sense of what ongoing training with this Method looks and feels like.

Testimonial
Working with Tony Kishawi has been one of the most valuable investments I've made in my development as an actor of late. His coaching is insightful, honest, and tailored to the individual, creating an environment where you feel challenged, supported, and inspired to grow.

Tony has an incredible ability to identify the truth in a performance and provide practical, actionable guidance that immediately elevates your work. His approach has strengthened not only my technical skills but also my confidence in auditions. I have left his sessions with a deeper understanding of the craft and a renewed sense of purpose and what it takes to make a scene feel effortless but impactful.

What sets Tony apart is his genuine commitment to helping actors reach their full potential. He believes in his students, pushes them to exceed their own expectations, and equips them with the tools needed to compliment a sustainable career in the industry.

I highly recommend Tony to any actor looking to develop their craft, gain confidence, and take their performances to the next level.

Self Tape Prep

The self tape preparation sessions have been set, starting 13 August. Come find out how to impress an audition panel, or better yet, stop thinking of them as judges and start thinking of them as filmmakers looking for an actor who can bring their movie to life.

That means showing real range, not reciting the words. The work happens before you ever get in front of the camera: knowing your script's highs and lows, its emotional shifts, the back history that colours the dialogue.

Over four weeks, we'll work in partners, build the scenes, and step in front of the camera together. You'll walk away with a self tape built to knock the socks off any audition panel, or should we say, film creators.

See you there.

Reciting vs. Performing: A Before and After Self Tape Breakdown
Ever wondered what separates a self tape that gets overlooked from one that gets noticed? In this video, I break down a common problem I see constantly: actors reciting the words instead of performing them.

Watch Lucy tackle a genuinely difficult challenge, a monologue as Lance from Shakespeare's The Two Gentlemen of Verona, first as a straight recitation, then again after working through body language and intention with me.

The difference is not just technical. Once you understand what each line actually means and find the feeling behind it, even four hundred year old comedic language becomes clear and alive for a modern audience.

If you are an actor on the Sunshine Coast looking to develop this kind of work on your own material, come and train with me. We start by running the script without cameras, digging into what every sentence and every feeling means, before ever thinking about performance.

I hear actors say that they don't like improvisation. They don't feel confident that they can just make up things on the spot, of course you don't feel confident if you have never practiced. Practice surprise yourself.

Ever wondered what happens on the other side of the audition panel? They are watching tape after tape, swiping past most of them. Your video has to jump off the screen in the first three seconds, and that only happens when you have actually done the work: found the emotional turns in the script, worked out what happened before the scene and what happens next, and brought the words to life rather than just reciting them.
Are you an actor on the Sunshine Coast looking to develop your screen performance skills?
I am putting together a small group for an introductory actor training program at Screen Hub, Nambour, focused on audition skills, script analysis, emotional range, and on camera performance.
Sessions will run Tuesday or Thursday evenings, 6pm to 8pm. Places are limited and will be confirmed shortly.
