SD sheree dornan

Sheree Dornan is a designer and visual artist who works from her studios at Block D Studios in Myaree Western Australia designing and producing for gallery exhibitions and runway shows. Sheree’s work is varied – including designing printed and embellished textiles which are applied to garment designs or interior products - jewellery and artwork. She also has an extensive previous work history in

building design – lecturing and architectural illustration. The garments Sheree designs and constructs mostly one-off pieces or are limited edition produced as mini collections regularly throughout the year. Sheree’s work has an heirloom quality with attention to the smallest details and a conscious consideration of minimal waste of materials and producing sustainable garments to be worn and treasured for years. The use of reclaimed items are often involved in either the design or construction process. Sheree was invited to have her work published in two books by international design author Bradley Quinn

I have a new label

🔘 r e e // w u r k 🔘

I’ve been reworking vintage and reclaimed clothing forEVER!
First one when I was 15. Found a 1940s crepe beaded dress in an opshop size ###L .. fell in love with the fabric and bronze seed beads. Reworked it into a size 6 to fit me ( I was a very wee lassie then) Wore it everywhere 💛 and I haven’t stopped recreating since then. Time to pop their own label on them to distinguish them apart from my other labels. They have been under my SD label until
now. The time is also perfect for me to focus on preparing a small range ready for when we can reopen for our OPEN DAYS once life returns to a new form of normal. All one offs of course @ BLOCK D Studios

It’s hard to think about anything else than the horrific fires. The 2 tops on the left and the right are from the New Horizon hand dyed silks I started a little while ago and have just finished. They’re all unique in the dyeing process. I don’t have many and there are a few different sizes. If anyone wants to purchase one I’ll donate 25% of each one sold to the red cross, Greening Australia, Australian volunteer fire services and a wildlife rescue group. They are based on landscapes and remind me of australian eucalyptus trees. Let’s hope there will new horizons, there will be regrowth and the animals population will hopefully recover as much as possible and people who have lost everything can rebuild their lives. In the mean time I’m going to make some silk lined pouches for injured wildlife. PM me or email me 💛 Sheree

CLOTHING OPEN DAY tomorrow SAT 4/1 2020 from 10-2 ⚪️ We’re back in the studio preparing for the first open day tomorrow morning. After a sad start to year with our beautiful country on fire it’s hard to be inspired though. Heartbreaking ⚪️
