How much planning is too much thinking?šŸ§

I enjoy the planning process. It helps me to work through design elements and technical challenges before Iā€™m in so deep I canā€™t see the forest for the trees.
Slow art indeed.

If after all the effort I feel excited to dive right in and invest big time in the making of the mosaic it doesnā€™t matter to me whether anyone else sees or admires it. It matters that I went on the journey.

Do you peruse your personal photo libraries for inspiration?
Then take measurements, draw, dry lay, carefully consider colour combos, make a small study before you adhere the first piece to substrate?

The gentle sea creature, the pattern blending with the sandy shoreline, it wasnā€™t anything I expected to see on a walk along the beach.
Such a shame to find a stunning Wobbegong shark like this. Itā€™s sad weā€™re too late to help it. At the same time thereā€™s a feeling of gratitude to be able to see it up close and be able to photograph it.
Wobbegongs are not likely to bite a human unless they feel threatened when stepped on or harassed.

Can you see it? No not the grubby fingernail of a mosaicist šŸ˜œ That minute as in teeny tiny shard.
I reached for my nippers and ouch šŸ˜© it went deep enough to hurt like a needle through my thumb. I couldnā€™t see a thing, hoped it was only a cut like happens when you absentmindedly run a finger against cut glass. Using my right thumb became painful. Maybe it would work its way out overnight? Nope. So after soaking in warm water this morning, some squeezing, poking, prodding with a fine sharpe object this is what emerged. šŸ˜³
So tiny how could it hurt so bad? Now I feel like such a wuss.
Moral of this overly long story for such a small thing, mosaic love hurts ā¤ļø

Iā€™m out on a limb with the mosaic Iā€™m working on. My design is ambitious, hopefully not too ambiguous once itā€™s done. Possibly a bit ā€˜in ya faceā€™. Definitely not what I typically lean towards but heck if you take no risks whatā€™s the point? Right?
Once itā€™s done I will decide what will become of it.

Had the pleasure of seeing this world class exhibition of museum worthy tapa by the Omie artists. The Omie people live in one of the most remote places imaginable. Deep in the jungles of Oro Province in Papua New Guinea they practice their art in semi isolation.

Tapa is not unique to PNG. The cloth made from the inner bark of the paper mulberry tree is mainly associated with Tonga, Samoa and Fiji.

Curator and advocate for the Omie people, Joan G Winter works with the Omie directly and with the Omie Cultural Business Group to bring their tapa artworks and cultural history to the world.

See the exhibition at Black Fig Gallery, The Plaza, Alstonville NSW.

Along The Waterfall Way Bellingen to Dorrigo there are an embarrassment of waterfalls to view. The mosaics were an added bonus for me. These are at the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre. The waterfall is Ebor Falls.
