The studio was quiet and waiting early this morning… and then this happened. ❤️

Today was the first of my Sunday Series workshops at Lost Lane Studio — Painting with Coloured Pencils.

A full day of layering, blending, experimenting, learning — and, as you can see, quite a lot of laughing!

By afternoon, the sun was streaming into the studio, everyone was completely absorbed in their work, and there was that lovely mix of conversation, concentration and comfortable quiet that happens when people are happily lost in making.

And a visit from the cat critic 😻

And the finished pieces! Such beautiful results, and each one completely individual.

Days like this are exactly what I hoped Lost Lane Studio would become. ✏️🎨

Have you always wanted to learn to draw but weren’t sure where to start?

My small-group classes are designed for adults who want to build real drawing skills in a relaxed, encouraging studio environment. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or ready to take the next step, you’ll learn the foundations that give you confidence to keep growing.

Tomorrow the studio comes to life again.

Fresh paper. Sharpened pencils. A few chosen materials waiting on the tables at Lost Lane Studio.

One set is for Drawing Fundamentals 1, where a new group will begin learning to see the world through an artist’s eyes.

The other is for Drawing Fundamentals 2, where returning students will build on their skills and tackle new challenges in perspective, proportion, structure and life drawing.

Right now they’re just materials.

By tomorrow they’ll be filled with experiments, discoveries, questions, breakthroughs, laughter, the occasional frustration, and plenty of “aha!” moments.

I can’t wait to welcome everyone back.

It’s one of the biggest reasons people put off joining a drawing class.

The truth? Most people arrive feeling exactly the same way.

My Drawing Fundamentals classes are designed for beginners and those wanting to build confidence in a relaxed, supportive environment. No pressure, no judgement, just practical step-by-step guidance.

✏️ Drawing Fundamentals 1 (Beginner) 2pm - 4pm

✏️ Drawing Fundamentals 2 (Beyond the Basics) 10am - 12pm

Classes begin Tuesday 9 June at Lost Lane Studio, Murwillumbah.
