I've had a really long journey in Tango as a single woman.
There have been times where I wished I wasn't.
Multiple times I've had the experience of feeling a connection in Tango, beyond the ordinary. Only to have the moment melt into reality, where my partner is actually already involved with somebody else.
OR, they are one of "those" guys.
The type with very few boundaries around their seggsual energy. Loose and engaging, until it comes to real life!
A few times, I've let me own needy-energy melt away my own boundaries only to find myself entangled in something icky and unworthy.
At other times, I've simply felt invaded by my partner's lack of emotional boundaries and a few times, left the floor feeling mauled by greedy hands :(
Overall, Tango has nearly, nearly always been entangled with romantic, polarised and seggsual energy.
Which makes sense ... except then,
circumstances had me begin to lead in milongas (social dances).
An injury with my foot that wasn't easily fixed, making it difficult for me to follow but still possible for me to dance Tango leading.
I discovered, the other side.
And it was a revellation!!
Now, I enjoy dancing Tango with other women.
It's become an art form of movement, body balance and creative energy exchange.
AND, I know some tips that make social dancing AS a woman (leading and following) WAY better. So, many things that you can do in the dance with your hands to get your needs met! hehe ;)
If you're interested in learn, but don't have a partner.
If you want to give Tango a try,
but you feel uncertain about dancing with unfamiliar men.
If you're a woman,
wanting to learn how to lead in Tango (or in life!) ...
Then, here is my new course.
In conjunction with Byron Community College, my new offering is "Women Exploring Through Tango" at South Golden Beach Hall on Wednesdays from 2 August, 6-8PM.
