Aboriginal Creations by Jordana

Aboriginal Creations by Jordana ARTIST PROFILE My name is Jordana Angus. I am an established contemporary Wiradjuri artist and emerging jeweller.

My traditional land is Narrandera New South Wales; however I was born and raised in Redcliffe, Queensland. This location has given me an innate connection to where the land meets the sea. I have completed a Bachelor of Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art (majoring in Jewellery and small objects) in Brisbane which I hope will further my artistic ability by experimenting and introducing new techn

iques and mediums into my work. Works I create are often abstract landscapes to inform pieces inspired by reclaiming childhood cultural memories and my connection to Country. My concern lies with addressing environmental issues so I aim to invest meaning and value into materials that are overlooked or discarded. Recently, my works have been focused on embellishing and reforming oyster shell remnants collected from family gatherings; and my jewellery work is experimenting with embellishing metals such as aluminium that are often seen as undesirable to consumers. By imposing cultural stories and traditions in contemporary practice, and through the use of bright colours and experimentation with mixed mediums I raise awareness of personal stories and the search for the beauty that can be found in the everyday.

I take great pride in the diversity and quality of my work and each art piece is personally hand painted or created. Most are one off pieces which have not been reproduced. Because the artwork is all done by myself I can guarantee to customers that they are receiving not just a unique piece, but also a competitively priced work. Finally I also offer (blue card accredited) teaching workshops and private lessons at an affordable price or can produce pieces of work by commission.

This pair of earrings was bothering me how the yellow was all smudged with black and red... I hate throwing out resin mistakes because it's quite a time consuming tricky process, and don't like adding to landfill...so I try and fix them if I can 😁 I'm glad I was able to restore this pair 😊
