A message to the world and our dear community:

Our much loved WeMove studio has not been operational since the flood and while we’ve been working on the clean up we have been dreaming of new ways to get the ball rolling again. We have an immediate need to make plans for the future and we are looking for some fresh energy and perspective to help bring this well-established, and esteemed movement hub back to a state of flourishing.

We are seeking sincere expressions of interest for the new ownership of WeMove Studio.

This project has been built on love, commitment to movement, and inclusive community vibes. We have built this space from scratch, brought a strong movement community together, filled the space with numerous creative events, and seen the business through the difficult covid lockdowns. Now starting in the fifth year of this project, it was well and truly on the path for major growth.

The recent floods put a spanner in the works and while the studio’s potential remains ripe, we are not currently equipped to rebuild this valuable community asset on our own.

If you know someone, or you yourself are excited about the opportunity to take this project to the next level, please send your genuine interest to us via email: [email protected]

It has been a very difficult decision for us to make, as we love our amazing teachers and community so much. It is out of our care and hopes for the WeMove magic to continue that we are putting this call out now.

Our weekend at WeMove… Thank you to the incredible crew of people from .space who came on Saturday to help us with our floor. It’s gone now, and even the the mirrors had to come down for now … When starting the process of cleaning we didn’t anticipate that we will have to cut walls, and take out almost everything we’ve built just over 4 years ago.. Feeling it ALL 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 trying to keep the dance going too 🙏🏻
We will keep updating about the progress and plans for future as we go.

Dear community 🖤
Firstly we hope everyone is safe 🙌🏻 It is absolutely amazing to witness the coming together and helping hands all around our shire. As many of you already know WeMove had flooded and our beautiful floor was damaged. Thanks to a beautiful crew of volunteers we were able to get through the first flood clean at the studio. This week we are working on assessing the damage and working out what can be done to repair. We will then need to make plans and create a timeframe. Unfortunately in the meantime we won’t be able to run classes at the studio. We will keep updating as we go 🙌🏻🙌🏻 *all memberships have been paused.

💧Flood update 💧 Due to some water damage the studio will be closed until further notice.
One we can get in there and clean we will assess and keep you updated.

On this day, 26 of January, we acknowledge the traditional dancers and custodians of this land, the Arakwal people of the Bundjalung nation, along with all indigenous people across Australia. May the stories and dances of their ancestors live on, and new stories of healing and connection to land, water and spirit be created.

Bangarra Dance Theatre acknowledges the 26 January as a national Day of Mourning for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people. During this time of reflection, we pay our respects to Elders across Australia for their enduring care and maintenance of Country, story and culture.

We perform on this date as a celebration of our Survival and the resilient warrior spirit, inherent in our young people who stand strong and proud.
