Sandra Cooksey-Nott - SMACN Fine Arts

Sandra Cooksey-Nott - SMACN Fine Arts Since a very young age I have been fascinated by all types of art.

I spend much of my spare time creating an array of pieces exploring different mediums and subjects, although, I am quite partial to en-capturing the beauty of animals large and small.

Its been a busy couple of weeks, but over the last 2 days I have found a little bit of time to finally finish Mr Chaos.
Now to tackle the background! This will be interesting.

Day 5... Frozen, popcicle, eskimo are all adjectives I could use to describe myself today. We headed put to Kaludabah Estate. Every direction proved to be a subject of inspiration. Again, I went for a challenge, tackling structures in the landscape.
What do you think of the outcome?
Come see this painting and maybe add it to your collection at our exhibition on Saturday at the St Mary's church hall. There will be a plethora of artworks created by amazing artists over the past week.

Day 4, the smell of coffee and donuts fueled this little piece. When I couldn't pull a composition together to paint, I picked up my old faithful pens instead. The result, a sweet little landscape full of subtle details.

Day 3... I didnt finish. I didnt finish because I tackled a subject I've never been brave enough today, I worked with a very small brush, little paint on the palette so I could stay in control of my mixing. I feel a mixture of frustration for how slow I am but also contentment... for finding comfort in the discomfort in giving it a good crack. I will finish. It's just going to take a bit. Stay tuned.
Hill End, cant wait to see you again with the palette and brushes.

It was cold, it was windy it was bleak... Day 2 of the Mudgee Painters week. Today saw us converge on Lowes Wines. Standing under the bush chapel roof I was enraptured with the changing scene before me as the rain and fog moved in and out, guiding brush strokes around the board to depict the cool Autumn Day.

Day 1 of Mudgee Painters Plein Air Paint Out ✅️

I broke out the box and easel and put on my best oil painter's pose and went for it... well I tried.
Although the world was busy around me, time had stood still while I set out to capture one of my favourite buldings in Mudgee (I have a lot 😅).
has had many faces over the years, but currently its presence houses luxury accommodatiom and a wonderful dining experience at . What was beautiful about attempting to capture this subject was the not the painting itself, but the people who stopped by to watch me paint (among the other very experienced and talented artists) who had stories to share about The Parkview. From dining in the blue room, being proposed to inside the restaurant 42 years ago (and still married), to, lets just say, some fun stories in the 70s 😅. One that stuck with me most was someone who, made connectipn to my own family, having parked his old car for sale in front of the old house on our old family farm for sale, being able to reminisce stories of my dad and grandparents. What I was painting, was just not a building. It was memories. The painting has imperfections, and is my first oil painting of a building, but I am proud of what it represents.
This painting, at this point, will be for sale at the Mudgee Painters exhibition in the CWA hall next Saturday.

Four lorikeets in… and then this guy showed up.

Meet the final addition... small, loud, and absolutely not here to behave. Every flock has that one bird who refuses to follow the brief… and honestly, the chaos was necessary.

Balance is overrated. A little disruption brings the whole piece to life. 🦜✨
