Generations In Jazz

Generations In Jazz | 1 - 3 May, 2026 Generations In Jazz is an annual weekend Jazz Festival held in Mount Gambier, Australia.

It is held in May and brings together many of Australia’s most talented young jazz musicians to participate in and compete for the 'James Morrison Instrumental Jazz Scholarship', 'Generations in Jazz Vocal Scholarship', and the 'City of Mount Gambier National Big Band Awards'. The weekend in May provides an environment for young musicians to perform and learn in a relaxed atmosphere, share fellows

hip with their peers, and the opportunity to hear professionals like James Morrison, Gordon Goodwin and Daryl Somers perform. Many schools make this an annual event with many school, community and combined high school bands traveling great distances from all over the country.

This time, last week...

5000 students finished a full day of competitions after months and months of hard work.

To celebrate? They were joined by music lovers from across Australia as we watched in awe as the James Morrison Pavilion exploded with an absolute powerhouse performance from none other than Tower of Power

It was an absolute privilege to have Tower of Power for their only Australian show… right here in regional South Australia 🎷

Not only did we get to witness greatness, Tower of Power held a workshop with students on Sunday morning who were inspired by the talent of our next generation of artists.

Being inducted into the Generations in Jazz Hall of Fame is an incredible honour for Dale Cleves — but true to form, his first words were about the people around him.

A passionate educator, mentor and leader, Dale’s impact on generations of young musicians extends far beyond the stage. His humility, dedication and commitment to music education have helped shape the spirit of Generations in Jazz for decades.

Congratulations Dale, our inaugural Hall of Fame inductee. A very well deserved recognition.
