Painting is always the largest category at the Open Art Awards and this year was no exception with 38 received.
Julie Kent's "Misty" and Di Ashworth's "Palette Cleanser both received Highly Commended Awards. Suesanne Hope's "The Stockman's Quiet Hour" was awarded 2nd place with Di Ashworth gaining 1st place with "The House on Bishop Road".

This year's Members Award went to Jenny Johnson with "Blooms".

Our patron, Tony Pasin, was unable to attend the opening this year. Mark and Julie Peuker were is representatives and enjoyed the challenge, awarding Suesanne Hope with the Patron's Award for her painting "The Debate".

Works on Paper attracts a large number of entries at every exhibition, covering a variety of mediums, and this year was no exception.
Heather Lucas-Telford received a Highly Commended for her watercolour entry "Sea Turtle". A Highly Commended was also awarded to Nita von Stanke's "Birds Nest", worked in acrylic on paper.
2nd place went to Reene Everlyn with "Chook Chat" worked in water colour, with 1st going to Di Ashworth and "Texas 5 Card Paw", in pastels.

Mixed media attracts the third highest number of entries into the Open Art Awards.
This year Margaret Carter's "Mixed Farm Land" was Highly Commended, with Luke Pellen's entry "The Cassandra Interface" receiving 2nd. In first place was Julianne Woodruff's "Misty Mornings"

A variety of mediums were used in this year's entries into the 3D category.
Jenny Dean's Highly Commended work comprising pine needles; Ron Greenmount's limestone sculpture, also Highly Commended; Julianne Woodruff's 2nd placed ceramic; and Jennie Matthews fabric puppet in first.

Here's a few more winners from Friday night's Open Art Awards.
Kerrie Head received a Highly Commended for her work titled "Here's Looking at You" in the Textiles category. First prize winner in this category was Deanna Farranfield with a wall hanging "Brandi", and Margaret Carter came second with her piece "Blue Lake, Mt Gambier".
In the Digital Art category, Amaya Gamage secured a 1st with "Golden Beak" and Luke Pellen was second with "Night Geometry".

The gallery looks fabulous. Thank you also for curating the display that celebrates past members and their work as well as recognising past Open Art Awards. Interesting to see how the event has evolved over time.
