Our next event, Words Out Loud: an evening of stories and poetry, maybe edging closer but you’ve still got time to submit an entry. This free community event is open to everyone (18+). So why not come along on Friday 25th September at 6:00pm for a fun night of storytelling here at the gallery? It’s part of the upcoming Southern Art and Craft Trail and we just love having fun!

Grab an entry form from Margaretha at the awesome art and craft supply shop: Lavender Bee (26 Langton Road, Mount Barker) or find it in the first comment below.

We’re so excited about our next event! This year we’ve decided to kick off the 2026 Southern Art & Craft Trail with a fun community evening of storytelling, that’s now open for registrations.

So if you’ve got a story to tell simply pick up an entry form from Lavender Bee (26 Langton Road, Mount Barker WA) or see first comment; write your poem or short story (max 200 words, age 18+) and return it by 1pm Sunday 6 Sept….. let the writer within you out!

It might be a while since we were last seen here, but our young artists have been busy preparing for their mid year exhibition and it’s looking absolutely awesome!

‘Relaxing Cats and Real Life Drawing’ opens tomorrow here at The Cheeky Parrot Gallery and you’ll be in for an absolute treat…. check out the incredible clay work and life drawing from participants aged 9-13 in our Explore, Express, Excel Young Artists Program.

Pop in and see us over the weekend: we’re open Fri 17, Sat 18, Sun 19 July from 10am to 2pm

Such a sensationally talented artist who generously donates her time and knowledge with our young artists….. Congratulations Chris 👏

Kendenup artist Christine Baker has been named as a finalist in The Percivals, a nationally recognised portrait prize worth $40,000, for her work Self Portrait as a Shape Shifter.

It’s time to head out to Art in the Porongurup for this year’s sensational sculpture trail! The event opened today and there’s been plenty of smiles from visitors enjoying The Cheeky Parrot Gallery’s entry ‘Lost in the Porongurups’ by the young artists participating in our Explore Express Excel program ☺️

Check it out and all the inspiring sculptures that meander through the bush surrounding Porongurup Hall and the awesome art and crafts inside ….. on now until midday Saturday 11 April.

P O R O N G U R U P S

It’s been a while since we’ve been seen here….. there’s been a lot of creativity happening in the meantime! Over 2 terms, young artists participating in the Explore Express Excel program at The Cheeky Parrot Gallery, have been diligently working on their entry for this year’s Art in The Porongurup event which opens on April 3.

They are just adding the final touches and the entry represents their exploration and development of sculpture techniques using clay. Each unique piece has been through the kiln (twice!) and the young artists have learned some additional skills including how to make their own wire springs and the older group got handy with their woodworking skills to work on the bus. What bus?! You might well ask! Come along to Art in the Porongurup and all will be revealed! It truly is a great “must see” event to enjoy over the Easter holidays - concludes midday April 11.

It’s almost time to announce the winner of The Cheeky Parrot Gallery’s 2026 Youth Art Award - all will be revealed at 12noon this Saturday: 31 January.

One talented young artist stands to win a $100 voucher for Lavender Bee (our fabulous local arts & crafts supply specialist)….. who we are hugely grateful to for sponsoring this event again this year. The unknown judge was appointed to provide an unbiased and independent result and we are all so excited to find out who the deserving recipient is!

This is the last chance to have your say….. vote for ‘The People’s Choice’ award ✅ by 11am on Saturday 31 January. The young artist with the most votes will receive a $50 voucher, also for Lavender Bee 🐝

It’s easy to vote! Simply come into The Cheeky Parrot Gallery, view the Youth Art Award exhibition, choose your favourite piece and pop the number on the voting slip and place it in the box!

It’s a great way for young artists to get their creativity seen - so please come along and support these inspiringly talented artists…. they are on an exciting creative journey.
