We're excited to announce that Blair French will serve as judge for the 2026 Mosman Art Prize.

Currently CEO of Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA), Blair is a highly respected arts leader, curator and writer whose career spans Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia. He has held key leadership roles including CEO of Carriageworks; Director, Curatorial and Digital at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia; and Executive Director of Artspace Visual Arts Centre.

Blair shared:
“I am delighted to have this opportunity to look at the incredibly wide range of current Australian painting practices that come together in the Mosman Art Prize. The Prize plays such an important role in recognising the work of painters from across the country and has done for so long. It’s a privilege to be acting as judge for the 2026 iteration.”

With deep expertise in contemporary art and a history of curating major exhibitions in Australia and internationally, we’re thrilled to welcome Blair’s perspective to this year’s Mosman Art Prize.

Entries close Monday 13 July, find the entry form and requirements here: https://mosmanartgallery.org.au/event/2026-mosman-art-prize-entries-open/

This gorgeous work by Leila Jeffreys, Ornithurae (2018), is part of the Mosman Art Collection and is available to view online via our website.

The title is drawn from the group of birds from which all modern birds descend. Ornithurae is emblematic of Jeffreys’ practice, as she works closely with birds, producing sympathetic portraits, often at human scale. The artist invites us to spend time with them, presenting them as the beautiful subjects of this portrait, and encourages our empathy with these birds and, by extension, the natural world.

Our In Profile exhibition is the first space where you encounter art when entering the foyer, and it is a dedicated space for local artists.

The current In Profile artist is Lindie Treleaven. Lindie Treleaven is an oil painter, known for her landscape, seascape and harbour artworks. She is a keen advocate for plein air painting, capturing scenes directly from life. Her work often features locations around Sydney, such as Mosman, Manly and North Head. She is also the current President of Mosman Art Society.

Come and see this wonderful, intimate series of scenes from our local shores.

On until Sunday 9 August.
