Explaining your job to your nan as a venue owner…
“So what do you actually do?”
“Well, people hire our venue for weddings, birthdays, parties and events.”
“Oh lovely! So you own a restaurant?”
“No.”
“A pub?”
“No.”
“A function centre?”
“Technically… but also not really.”
“So you just rent the building?”
“Kind of.”
“And you organise the parties?”
“Sometimes.”
“You do weddings?”
“Yep.”
“Birthdays?”
“Yep.”
“And what was that music thing?”
“The live music quiz nights.”
“You run quizzes too?”
“Yep.”
“So you’re a quizmaster?”
“No.”
“You’re a wedding planner?”
“No.”
“You’re a bartender?”
“Sometimes.”
“You’re a musician?”
“Also sometimes.”
“…So what do you actually do?”
Honestly, Nan, at this point I’m not entirely sure either. 😂
Welcome to owning an event venue.
One minute we’re setting up for a wedding, the next we’re hosting a live music quiz, moving furniture, answering enquiries, fixing something that absolutely should not be broken and wondering why there’s a random balloon in the ceiling.
Apparently “venue owner” doesn’t quite cover it.
