Happy Sea Turtle Day! 🐢🌏💚
Today we're celebrating some incredible milestones from our Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast!
So far in 2026, we've successfully returned 14 sub-adult sea turtles and an amazing 96 loggerhead hatchlings back to the wild where they belong.
But the impact doesn't stop there. Over the past five years (2021–2026), our dedicated team has rescued, treated, and cared for approximately 581 sea turtles from across Queensland. Every turtle that arrives in our care represents a chance to make a difference, and every release is a reminder of why we do what we do for animal welfare and conservation.
From tiny hatchlings beginning their ocean journey to larger turtles recovering from illness, injury, and marine debris entanglement, each patient reminds us why sea turtle conservation is so important. Thank you to our incredible veterinary team, animal care staff, aquarists, rescuers, and supporters who help make these outcomes possible. Together, we're giving Queensland's sea turtles a fighting chance. 💚🐢
