Today we welcomed the Murilla Respite Group to Forget-Me-Not in the gallery.

Amy spoke about the 'Nature + Art' artists and the varying mediums each uses to create an interesting exhibition which compliments each artwork.

Participants loved how realistic Michelle Black's magpies are.

They also loved the little quirky story behind 'Allannah' by Lyn Wunsch on show on the Curved Wall.

Amy also showed the group the NGA Cases currently on loan from the National Gallery of Australia. The group were fascinated that Lionel Bawden had the idea to create the 'Brain coral' made from coloured Staedtler pencils, araldite and Incralac.

Today Storytime for Toddlers was held @ the Gallery.

The toddlers noticed all the birds in the different artworks and in particular the 'Pair of red-tailed black cockatoos' by Kate Lacy.

They also enjoyed colouring, and gluing feathers onto the curlew template.

Don't forget 'Cuppa & a Chat' tomorrow, Wednesday 10 June, 10am - 11am.

Finish by hand-stitching your patch onto an item of cotton clothing you bring from home (denim is fine). Please note that some fabrics are not suitable, including stretch fabrics, synthetics and delicate materials such as silk.

LAST DAYS to view...

In the John Mullins Memorial Art Gallery
'Narrative in Detail' by Kate Beard & Karina Devine

Beard’s vibrant acrylic paintings transform her personal memories into dynamic visual stories, employing layers of richly coloured glazes to create depth and emotion. In contrast, Devine’s mixed media works intricately weave together joyful experiences of home and meaningful connections, characterised by a juxtaposition of collage and “maximalist” detail. Despite their stylistic differences, both artists share a foundation in storytelling, with their works reflecting the beauty and lessons of life through uniquely identifiable techniques.

On the Curved Wall
'A Little Prickly' by Regina Hyland

Drawing from photographs captured across the Western Downs, Queensland – where small stands of the once-invasive Prickly Pear still remain, each work offers a close, contemplative view of the plant’s intricate forms, colours, and textures. The prickly pear is a recurring theme for Hyland, and in this series, she also incorporates the Cactoblastis moth, marking 2026 as the centennial of its introduction to Australia as a biological control for the invasive pear.

Last day, Saturday 23 May.
