Cummins Theatre The Cummins Theatre is an iconic, heritage listed theatre in Merredin, Western Australia. Cummins Theatre has now re-opened, bigger and better than ever.

Cummins Theatre was originally part of the Tivoli Theatre which was erected in Coolgardie in 1897. The Theatre was dismantled and railed to Merredin where it was re-built by James Cummins in 1928. Since its construction, the theatre has become highly valued by the community as a long-standing venue for live entertainment. In 1982, in recognition of its cultural heritage significance, the place was

classified by the National Trust of Australia (WA) and Cummins Theatre was permanently entered on the State Register of Heritage Places in 1996. In 2009 the Shire of Merredin was successful in receiving funding to complete extensive renovations and conservation works to the significant heritage fabric of this heritage icon. Bates Street like you've probably never seen it โ€” flooded kerb to kerb outside the old shopfronts near Cummins Theatre. You can just make out a couple of kids picking their way along the wet footpath under the verandahs, a car parked nose-in at the kerb, and a few locals out walking despite the state of the road.

We don't have an exact date for this one โ€” if you recognise the flood, the shopfronts, or any of the folks in it, let us know in the comments.

Back in 2010, we were swept away La Bohรจme โ€” the kind of production that reminds you why this opera has broken hearts for over a century. Rodolfo and Mimรฌ's love story, the freezing garret, that unforgettable final act... some performances just stay with you.

Sixteen years later and we're still thinking about it. ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐ŸŽถ
