*UPDATE*

But not much progress.
If you have ever dealt with Council's, Patience will be tested.
Proposals were submitted, things were moving, people were in support, council, and groups were in support.
Then, a staff change of who I was in contact with at Shire, then another staff change, and another. Each time feeling like back to the start.
Now back to trying to get things rolling with a New staff member.

Not ideal when the community of a shire wants some progress on various projects that could bring some value.

UPDATE:

There has been some movement.
A brief meeting was had with a Shire member.
We will soon be seeking some community feedback/interest in the idea and then push this onto the Shire to move things along.

Pump tracks. Older folks probably don't understand this new concept. Put simply, Large scale BMX tracks are no longer attractive, for a grommet it can be difficult to get the speed to air jumps. And a full lap can be exhausting.
Pump track design takes out all the pedaling, with the design allowing for flow and body momentum to generate speed, they also design these to have transfers between lines rather than a start and finish on a set track.
Dirt pump tracks are suitable for BMX and feel more natural, asphalt can be layered over the top for a smoother ride and then allows skate and scooters to ride.

Naturally, once you get some air on a BMX on dirt, you will want to go bigger, Dirt allows for those modifications with progression. Carving out bigger gaps as kids advance their skills and open up to tricks.

Usable by all riders all levels. Bowls have been popping up around the shire, Barradine, Brewarrina, Warren, Gilgandra.

The ol' Mendooran park is shown below. I originally sat on the SRC when the idea and the plans were drawn. Funny though how a plan for a simple concrete halfpipe (second image) was agreed upon and then this is what we received.
Having ridden for years and ridden many parks on my travels, Steel ramps suck. And they are definitely a thing(screw-up) of the past.

A Halfpipe is a Skatepark staple, Can be used by all learning levels. Scooters, skateboards, and BMX can all ride the same transition.

I'm looking to form a committee to apply for NSW Grant funding to establish a Skatepark & (or) Pumptrack.
A Sporting asset to add to the existing Sporting Complex Area aimed at teenagers who may not have much in Mendooran in terms of facilities to push themselves and learn skills, and tricks and to be RAD!

These facilities are popping up everywhere, we shouldn't be missing out.

If you are keen to see these kids off video games and get them out of the house, let me know your interest and ideas.
I will put together some surveys in the coming days to get some community feedback and gauge youth interest.

Anyone with grant application experience and who wants to be involved let me know. Or any experience in these things, Or just super keen to have a crack (myself). Drop me a message!
