Founded in 1964, The Charlesworth Ballet and Dance Academy teaches many styles of dance with an emphasis on strong technique. CBDA fosters a safe, caring environment for their students with qualified staff teaching in three conveniently located studios around the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. If your child is interested in a career in dance, CBDA can take him or her from their first class to VCE level and a professional career. The Charlesworth Ballet and Dance Academy is a highly professional school catering to a wide variety of ages, talents, and abilities. Our director, Rosslyn Charlesworth, is a life member and fellow of the Imperial Society Of Teachers Of Dancing. She is also accredited to teach Cecchetti candidates. We provide our students with the opportunity to participate in a full -length, professionally produced ‘End of Year Production’and encourage them to enter in competitions. Charlesworth Ballet and Dance Academy students learn stage craft from their participation in competitions and the ‘End of Year’ performances. As our teachers are mostly graduates from our school, they fully understand our philosophy and aims. We cater not only for the student of professional dance, but also encourage every student to enjoy dance for fun, friendship, strength and fitness. We are accredited to teach dance for VCE, an increasingly popular choice for our students in their VCE studies. Students who continue with dance during their VCE years generally achieve outstanding ENTER scores, facilitating entry to a number of University degree courses. CURRICULUM:
