A big shout out to Troy Mccosker for facilitating our first Audio Clinic. Micing and recording drums with the support of Ben Heitmann as drummer. Teaching micing techniques on two different drum kits. A traditional rock kit set up and a modern metal kit set up. One of the highlights was positioning mics in the warehouse at the rear of the studio. Awesome effect. Thanks to those that attended the session. Jesse Younan left behind four albums, a guitar style entirely his own, and songs that refused to look away from the brutal truths of life.

Eighteen years after Jesse’s death, those songs continue to find their way into the hands and hearts of artists and audiences through the annual Jesse Younan Tribute shows.

Each artist brings their own voice, instinct and experience to Jesse’s work, carrying the songs forward to be discovered by listeners for years to come.

This October, the tribute returns to Melbourne at Brunswick Ballroom, bringing together some of Australia’s finest singer-songwriter and musicians for one night celebrating Jesse’s music.

Jesse died from leukaemia in 2008, aged 35, shortly after completing his fourth album, A Good Day for a Migraine. His melancholic voice, distinctive fingerpicking style and raw, unflinching songwriting earned critical acclaim during his lifetime. His music has continued well beyond it.

Sabre Sound Studio is proud to launch a series of audio clinics. Its purpose is to give students/emerging audio engineers some hands-on experience in a professional recording studio alongside experienced engineers to help develop their skills and knowledge.
The 3-hour clinics will be limited to 10 spots, covering a wide range of audio engineering processes, and each clinic will be facilitated by one of Sabre’s experienced audio engineers.
We plan to run two clinics per month with a midweek evening option and weekend day option.
The first clinic will cover micing and recording drums with Troy Mccosker.

Melb based alternative rock band Sleepazoid, recording some new material over 5 days with Sydney producer Kim Moyes. Studio set up by Haydyn Buxton and supported by house engineers Troy Mccosker and Gareth Parton with assistance from Brodie Evans. The band consists of the amazing talents of lead vocalist and guitarist Nette France, bassist Josef Pabis, drummer Luca Soprano and guitarists George Inglis and Jim Duong.

We say goodbye to Bill Armstrong AM. A true legend who was widely regarded as the "father of the Australian recording industry". He has influenced and mentored many engineers and producers over the many decades. We thank him for his kind heart and contribution to the industry. We offer our condolences to the Armstrong family and relatives.

The Sullivans. Three generations of brilliance in one family. Doesn't get much better. Peter Sullivan (piano/keys) with his son Dan Sullivan (bass) and grandson James Sullivan (drums). What a pleasure to be entertained today by this rhythmic Jazz trio being recorded by our engineer Dave Kerven.
