🔥 MEDIA STATEMENT – FOR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION 🔥

Today, the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs opened his address with one of the most harmful lines our community has heard in years:
“Not all of our veterans are broken.”

That statement is not just careless — it is dangerous.

Veterans are not broken.
They are failed by systems.
They are ignored by bureaucracy.
They are exhausted by processes designed to outlast them.

To imply that “some veterans are broken” places blame where it does not belong.

My brother Stuart wasn’t “broken.”
He was let down.
Thousands are.

This kind of language shapes public perception, policy priorities, and the way the nation mentally categorises the people it sends to war.

Words matter — especially when spoken by the person responsible for their care.

The Royal Commission is crystal clear:
Systemic failure is the cause.
Not personal weakness.
Not “brokenness.”

If the Government wants trust, it must start with respect.
Respect begins with language that does not harm, diminish, or dehumanise the community it claims to serve.

We’re calling on the media — today — to challenge this narrative and ask why the Minister is framing veterans as “broken” instead of addressing the systemic failures identified by the Royal Commission.

No more framing.
No more spin.
No more diminishing the people who served.

Veterans are not broken.
The system is.

There’s something deeply wrong when threats against someone’s life — no matter their politics — are treated as entertainment.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said that escalating threats mean he can no longer move as freely in public. Whether you support him or not, the fact that death threats are shrugged off or mocked in comment sections should trouble us all.

Remember Charlie Kirk? He once stood in front of crowds and spoke words that downplayed, deflected, or even encouraged hostility in public debate. And what happened? The rhetoric bled into real-world violence. This isn’t “tough talk.” This is how cracks form in a democracy — when words that once seemed like hyperbole start to become action.

We cannot keep normalizing cruelty. We cannot pretend that wishing harm on others is “just politics.” These comments don’t just stay online. They shape the air we breathe, the way we talk to each other, the way our children learn what’s acceptable.

Dee Ceased doesn’t care which side of the aisle you stand on. What matters is this:
➡️ Threats are not debate.
➡️ Violence is not justice.
➡️ And dehumanization corrodes all of us, not just the target.

If we keep laughing at death threats instead of listening to the weight of them, we won’t just lose leaders — we’ll lose our humanity.

What happens when your illness can’t be seen? In this episode, Dee Ceased shares the raw reality of living with vestibular migraines — an invisible illness that robs energy, drains finances, and steals community, all while looking “fine” on the outside.
From spoon theory to the sunflower lanyard, Dee takes you inside the daily fight, the hidden costs, and the desperate need for compassion over judgement.
Because just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t breaking someone.

We choose when to humanise the dead.

When Charlie Kirk was killed, the message was: don’t laugh, he was still a father, still loved by his family.
But in December 2024, when Brian Thompson — CEO of an insurance company — was shot, people laughed. They celebrated. They made memes. Almost nobody said, he was still a human being, still someone’s dad, still someone’s partner.

Both men left behind people who loved them. Both families are broken now.

Grief shouldn’t be conditional. Humanity shouldn’t be negotiable.

Two police officers are dead.
A third is in hospital.
Families are grieving. A state is in shock.
And already, people are looking for someone to blame — anyone but the person who pulled the trigger.

So let’s be clear:
• This is not the Premier’s fault.
• This is not Victoria Police’s fault.
• This is not a failure of our gun laws.
• This is not about vests, timing, or red tape.

The fault lies solely with the shooter.

He made a choice to ambush police.
He made a choice to escalate.
And now two people are dead because of him.

I live under the same Premier.
I follow the same laws.
I deal with the same frustrations, systems, and politics.
And yet — I’m not shooting anyone.

What’s being planned this weekend isn’t a rally for peace or truth.
It’s a hate protest — one that will try to twist this tragedy to serve its own narrative.
I won’t stand by and let that happen.
Because this isn’t about freedom.
This is about two people who should still be alive.

And I will not let their deaths be hijacked by outrage addicts pretending they care.
