Picture this: it’s 2002, you’re 14 years old and you wake up at 6am on a Saturday. Do you creep into the family room and flick the TV on to Rage, then switch to Video Hits at 10am to keep the music party going, or were you normal? (We clearly did not have Foxtel growing up so this was as good as it got).

If this sounds like your childhood, how well do you remember your favourite music videos? Answers in comments. No peeking!

Therapy is expensive, but have you tried scream-singing My Friends Over You with a crowd of millennials who all peaked on MySpace?

Just maybe you need this.

On May 4, 1996, Alanis Morissette began a six-week run at No.1 on the UK album chart with Jagged Little Pill, which achieved 33 million copies sold worldwide.

The album produced six successful singles, including You Oughta Know and Ironic, and earned five Grammy Awards.

At 21, Morissette became the youngest artist to win Album of the Year.

Stats aside, this album was bigger than charts.

Before Jagged Little Pill, women in pop were often expected to be polished, palatable and pleasant.

But Jagged Little Pill was the beginning of commercialised female rage.

Morissette paved the way for female artists to take up space. She said the quiet parts out loud. She let anger, heartbreak, jealousy and contradiction exist in the same song — and proved there was a massive audience for it.

Alanis walked so that Taylor Swift could run. Isn’t it ironic, don’t you think?
