I'm so thrilled to have my artwork, 'The Way Back to Bangor' included in the 'No Place Like Home' Exhibition at The Frankston Arts Centre, and to have been able to attend the opening on Friday night. It was such a fun evening, and a real pleasure to meet so many talented artists and spend time with their work.

Bangor is a farm in Tasmania where people very dear to me live, and a place I keep returning to. Somehow, it keeps returning me to myself. The sky opens out, in summer the earth holds its heat, granite sits in the paddocks like old thoughts, and small lives move through it all without needing to announce themselves. The wombat becomes a quiet witness, low to the ground, moving through the grass. I do not have to search for belonging here. The place seems to know where I left it.

DONATE LIFE POP-UP STREET ART EVENT

As we begin DonateLife Week, I wanted to share the story behind this series of paste-ups.

Each piece celebrates the life that can continue through organ donation. From each organ, new life grows, offering the chance for someone to keep living, loving, exploring, and creating more memories with the people they love.

It has been such an honour to be included by DonateLife and Mr Dimples to be part of this project. Along the way, I learnt so much about the organ donation process, and I feel incredibly grateful to have been part of something so meaningful.

One thing I learnt that has really stayed with me is how important it is to have these conversations with the people you love. In Australia, your family and loved ones are the ones who will be asked to make the final decision about organ donation, so making sure they know your wishes is just as important as registering.

So honoured to be part of Hold The Line, an art fundraiser exhibition curated by the amazing Mr Dimples, supporting Lifeline Loddon Mallee.

100% of the sale of my artwork 'Time for Our Walk' will be donated to Lifeline Loddon Mallee, supporting the vital work they do in our community. Lifeline offers connection, care and crisis support in moments when people need it most, and I feel very grateful to contribute in a small way.

I was also very lucky to complete my Mental Health First Aid training through Lifeline Loddon Mallee, and I’m so grateful for the care, knowledge and generosity they bring to this work. Alongside their crisis support, Lifeline also offers training opportunities that help community members build skills, knowledge and confidence.

'Time for Our Walk'

'Time for Our Walk' began with a thought about all the ways we look after ourselves without always realising it. Sometimes wellbeing arrives dressed up as something ordinary: a lead clipped onto a collar, a familiar path, a dog waiting patiently by the door. On difficult days, a walk can be enough. Enough to notice the sky. Enough to feel your feet on the ground. Enough to remember that companionship doesn't always need words.

'A Week in the Lane' is all complete.

This piece grew slowly over the week in response to Pennyweight Walk and the layers of creativity and everyday life that quietly exist here on Dja Dja Wurrung Country.

There’s a penny and a paperweight referencing the name Pennyweight Walk itself. The Bendigo Pottery mug is a small love letter to the incredible creative history of Bendigo and the makers who continue to shape this region. Wattle winds through the work as a nod to the blooming landscape, and the blue tongue lizard is inspired by one of the little locals who lives in our driveway at home.

Thank you to all the artists I was lucky enough to work alongside this week, it was such a privilege witnessing their artworks come to life. The City of Greater Bendigo for creating this opportunity, and to everyone who stopped for a chat during the week, you are all wonderful ✨
