MUDFest 2013

MUDFest 2013 The University of Melbourne's biennial student arts festival, the largest of its kind in Australia.

MUDFest was founded in 1990, and has grown to become the largest student arts festival in Australia. Taking place every two years, the festival has sought to represent a variety of art forms and celebrate the work of emerging student artists, showcasing theatre, visual arts, dance, music, creative writing, and much more. MUDFest has seen the involvement of a number of students who have gone on to

professional careers in the arts, such as director Michael Kantor, playwrights Lally Katz and Angus Cerini and producer Stephen Armstrong. Since its inception, MUDFest has become a reputable stepping stone for emerging artists, as well as an opportunity to gain the expertise of professional mentors. As a festival that regularly attracts crowds in the thousands, MUDFest is the best platform for students to showcase engaging and unique works and to find an audience for their practice.

Today's the first day you can experience 'Wendy House' by Pixel Theatre Co, a work all about passing time, growing in spirals, and recognising yourself in the middle of it all.

"After years of turmoil a nation is broken. A curfew is imposed with terrifying penalties. When mother country turns on her children, what do children do?" If you've been reading the news, you'll know that this is one strikingly familiar and unfortunately real blurb, leaving this piece with an unexpected gravitas.
