I had to cancel my art program because only two people signed up.

Honestly, I'm feeling a mix of disappointed and relieved.

Disappointed because I was really looking forward to it. But also relieved because I put a lot of pressure on myself to create something genuinely valuable for the people who come along.

The thing I'm trying not to do is make it mean something bigger than it is.

It doesn't mean people don't want creative experiences. It doesn't mean adults aren't interested. It just means this version of the offer didn't work this time.

Maybe people wanted a one-off class instead of a six-week program. Maybe it was the wrong day. Maybe I didn't explain it well enough. Maybe I didn't get it in front of the right people.

Who knows.

What I do know is that I'm not going to take one result and turn it into a story about what I'm capable of or whether people want what I offer.

I'll take it as information.

This one didn't work.

So I'll try something else.

That's business, I guess.

One of the biggest mistakes I used to make in my workshops was helping too quickly.

A child or adult would get stuck and my instinct was to jump in and show them how to do it.

Over time, I realised that confidence isn't built when someone else solves the problem for you.

It's built in that moment where you think, "I can't do this"... and then discover that you can.

Now, instead of taking over, I try to ask:

"Show me what you've tried so far."

Almost every time, they surprise themselves.
