" we mine the spark that
stirs spirits
starts hearts.. Illumine Hybrid Theatre is an example of unified, international, collaborative practice. Dadirri is the mission. Beyond Borders is the plan. This international, interdisciplinary theatre company creates quality, new work with an emphasis on pluralism. The voices and expression of women and minority groups are the company's

main focus. Hybrid holistic training is a complementary arm of this organisation, which aims to cultivate a long-term, self-perpetuating arts ecology, by working with the community to nurture, well-being, self-confidence and self-expression. The facilitation of embodied, collaborative arts making processes, within diverse community groups, aims to develop new, relevant art work-by the community, for the community. ...In a world where the subconscious bleeds and time and space are fluid, the woman Hedda Gabler is re-imagined, her unborn child watches from a different dimension. This fragmented fairytale reaches inside the bodies of these characters revealing their deepest desires and flickers of ancient memory. A friendly competition turns sour, unearthing remnants of an everlasting history. Songs of mourning bring a fractured family back together. Mother and Daughter finally meet each other and find their story together, the story that started all of this.
The Golden Years Are Now is an interdisciplinary theatre work, in development, written and directed by Cara Dinley, presented by Illumine Hybrid Theatre. We are now looking for support to enable a second stage of development, which would complete the work and see it tour Europe in 2018. Because of her we can!

We love the theme, 'Because of her, we can!' There are so many deadly women in the Bangarra family. Here are two of them: dancers Elma Kris and Nicola Sabatino, who have collaborated on a new work, telling a Torres Strait Island dance story inspired by the sacred call of the dugong. 'Whistler' will premiere in 'ONES COUNTRY – the spine of our stories' at Carriageworks next week. Info and bookings >
