Dive Bar Disco

Dive Bar Disco Dive Bar Disco organises raves in dive bars. To us, dive bars are blank canvases, akin to the warehouses of the mid-90s to early 2000s rave scene.

The art of the party.

🙌 DBD Early Access List: https://tinyurl.com/dbdearlyacess With roots deep in the Melbourne underground, stretching back to the 90s, we showcase seminal artists alongside contemporary and emerging talent. This was a time when musicians, visual artists a

nd dancers co-created exhilarating shared experiences, largely free from commercial constraints and the shackles of bureaucracy. It was art, music and expression in their most pure, raw forms. It was community. It was freedom. It was therapy. It was unhinged, it was debauched, and it was hilarious. Above all, it was, quite simply, fun. And to have fun for the sake of it is a revolutionary act. Dive Bar Disco echoes and amplifies this energy. Our parties are a call to those who were there, and an invitation to the next generation.

Ranjit Nijjer has been part of Melbourne/Naarm’s underground techno landscape for more than two decades as a DJ, producer, promoter and founder of Technoir.

Through Technoir, Ranjit has helped build one of the city’s longest-running techno spaces: a home for local artists, visiting guests and committed dancers, held together by sound, community and a genuine love of the music. That same spirit now continues through Technoir’s fortnightly show on Area3000 Radio, hosted by Ranjit, where he shares the records, artists and ideas that continue to shape his connection to techno.

Since 2020, Ranjit has also built a solid body of work as a producer, with seven EPs on Australian label Machine, releases on Further Sessions and Denude, and the full-length album Echoes In Time on Diffuse Reality. While some of his earlier productions leaned into deeper and more atmospheric territory, his sound has broadened over time across hypnotic, driving and club-focused techno, while still carrying a strong sense of mood, movement and detail.

On Aug 1st, Ranjit opens Le Deep Powder dancefloor for Le Chalet Discothèque. Expect a patiently crafted set layered with hypnotic and ethereal textures, built bar by bar on a bedrock of driving techno and stripped-back funk.

Hailing from San Francisco, USA, the VisuaLaurax is a nocturnal creature that can most easily be found in the wild habitat of nightclubs and festivals, usually behind a computer, controller, and some projectors.

VJing since 2014, VisuaLaurax learned the art in San Francisco through working with other established VJs from the local community. She went on to work for some of the best clubs in San Francisco, most notably Monarch, The Great Northern, and Public Works. In Melbourne, she has established herself as a resident at My Aeon in Brunswick, and has VJ’d for Australian festivals including Tanglewood, Dragon Dreaming, Chiwowwah Town, Esoteric, and Rabbits Eat Lettuce.

On Aug 1st at Le Chalet Discothèque, VisuaLaurax’s projections transform the My Aeon downstairs area into the Disco Chalet of your dreams. Expect a cinematic combination of psychedelics and retro spice with a dark and mysterious Alpine twist, providing the perfect setting for hot and steamy Salon du Chalet shenanigans.

Not Jen - also not not known as Dinob1tch - has been tramping around the Australian underground electronic music scene since 2014 (affiliated with no one and everyone - many clubs, much festivals wow). She is known for her style of naturally blending playful irreverence, deep groove and femme-forward s**t energy in her sets.

She loves playing stripped-back grooves at intimate afters just as much as belting out tension and release bangers on festival stages. Time travel through the bent realms of house music is the mainstay, but she’s always up for a plot twist—layering in breakbeat, electro, acid, techno + a bit of carefully dropped trash when the situation calls for it (when does it not?). Whatever the setting, the common thread is always the same: fun but make it deep / deep but make it fun / deep but make it dirty.

At Le Chalet Discothèque: Trois on Aug 1st, not Jen slides into the Salon du Chalet dancefloor like a powder hound descending the slopes of Mont Blanc. Bring your best bass face for kooky club cuts, jackin’ b***y activation, and a hefty dose of pure filth.

With deep roots in the electronic dance community and the heart of an old school Melbourne raver stands a DJ named Tahl. Known for cracking sets that leave jaws not being stroked, but dropping, Tahl has some serious technical ability that glides seamlessly through a stylised blend of house, breaks, electro, dnb, and hip hop.

Tahl got his start handing out flyers for Future Entertainment parties, soon moving on to helping run underground parties like Fractured, Bamboozled, and Mixed Messages. He is a familiar face on Melbourne’s nightclub circuit, having held residencies at key venues and playing regularly at southside institutions Revolver Upstairs and The Breakfast Club. Tahl has played alongside local luminaries such as Luke Alessi and supported international heavyweights including Carl Cox, John Digweed, and Meat Katie.

Having grown up in the lush Mt Dandenongs, once Tahl experienced Rainbow Serpent for the first time in 2008, he knew where he wanted to be as much as possible. He went on to play at Rainbow Serpent for 5 years on both the Chill Out Stage and the Market stage, also adding Strawberry Fields, Chi Wow-Wah Town, Rancho Relaxo, Esoteric, and more to his resume along the way.

At Le Chalet Discothèque: Trois on Aug 1st, Tahl gets Deep in Le Powder upstairs at My Aeon, taking the flloor on a subsonic journey into genres including deep dnb, broken house, and bass house. Expect pulsating basslines, deep rolling grooves, and low-end immersion that keeps you locked in from the first bar to the last.
