I got to take over hosting duties on The International Americana Music Show again this month.

When I was asked to put the playlist together, I decided to keep it pretty close to home. Every artist on the show has joined us for an Americana Assembly over the past couple of years.

I'm really proud of what the Assembly has become and even prouder of the people who've said yes to being part of it. So this felt like a good chance to shine a little light on some of the great music being made around here.

Big thanks to Michal Park from The International Americana Music Show for handing me the keys again and for giving Australian artists some airtime on the other side of the world.

We're putting together a Music Victoria grant application for the Americana Assembly and we'd love your help.

If you’ve ever been to an Assembly show, what’s one thing you remember about the experience?

What made it different from a normal gig?

The atmosphere?
The collaboration?
Meeting new people?
Discovering a new artist?
Or something else?

Last night's Assembly show has left us all with full hearts and plenty of big smiles on our faces.

It's always a delight to come together for these events, sitting in on each other's songs and getting lost in the pure joy that comes from playing live music together.

Many thanks to our amazing performers Jeremy Beggs ellymckandtheunbelievers Fleur Wiber and Kat O'Gotham, as well as those who braved the torrential rain to join us at Union Hotel Brunswick. You're all magnificent!

We'll see you down the road somewhere, Nath and Jase.

Fleur Wiber is an alt-country singer-songwriter from Gunditjmara Country in southwest Victoria. Recently returned from Bangkok, where she has been living, performing, and recording, Fleur crafts songs shaped by travel, rebellion, longing, and wide-open horizons. Blending dreamy folk, cosmic Americana, and country twang, her music drifts between dusty road stories and moonlit reflections, carried by haunting vocals and evocative storytelling.

Seemingly hewn from Bellarine Peninsula basalt, Nathan Seeckts is one of Australia’s most passionate and honest songwriters. His vocals are imbued with all the heart worn grit of Steve Earle, grounding songs that are alternately heaving, shivering and jangling with feeling. Whether punching out a heartland belter or immersed in a nostalgic reverie, Seeckts delivers immense humanity, compassion and catharsis.

Elly McKinnon is an Australian songwriter and performer whose work blends heartfelt storytelling with a raw, soulful edge. Fronting her band Elly McK & The Unbelievers, she crafts songs that balance grit and vulnerability, drawing from folk, rock, and Americana influences. Alongside her performances, Elly is deeply involved in teaching and community music, sharing her passion for creativity and helping others find their voice through song.
