Greetings friends,

I hope everyone had a great holiday rest and you are gearing up for a big new year.

We are pleased to announce some great news - Understanding Palestine is back! !

We had an amazing 20 months at Black Spark, but unfortunately the venue had to close. We have lotsa great memories of the space, made lots of new friends and are genuinely sad to see it passon. Thanks to all the great people who made Black Spark run, we really appreciate your efforts.

But the good news is that we have found a new venue. It is the Jika Jika Centre in Northcote at 1B Plant St, Northcote. It is here we'll host our discussions and public meetings.

Our inaugural meeting for Understanding Palestine at our new venue will be on 8 February

In this talk, Yousef Alreemawi will present a unique perspective into the life of one of the most influencial Arab poets in modern history

Understanding Palestine Series started in March 2024 as a response to the growing interest among Australians in the Palestinian issue, and the limited resources in English about the history, literature and culture of Palestine.

The Series is organized and delivered by Yousef Alreemawi; one of Australia's leading experts in the history and culture of Palestine.

Since then, Yousef has delivered 30 lectures in Black Spark Cultural Centre in Northcote, and 10 lectures in Mama Chen in Foostcray. Additionally, he took the series to Sydney, Hobart and Adelaide.
