Throwback to Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Back in 2024, I spent a few weeks exploring one of the most photogenic countries I've ever visited — chasing sunrises, flying the drone over tea plantations, and hanging out the doors of the famous blue train through the hill country.

What started as a travel adventure quickly became one of my favourite content creation trips. Every corner seemed made for storytelling, from the streets of Colombo to the misty mountains around Ella.

Looking back, it's a reminder of why I love creating content in the first place — the experiences, the people, and the chance to capture moments that would otherwise become memories.

Sri Lanka, I'll be back. ✈️🎥

As a filmmaker, autumn in regional Victoria gives you everything. The light is softer, the colour does half the work, and people slow down enough to actually be present in a scene.

I took a Saturday and let Daylesford and Woodend tell me what to shoot.

This is the kind of place that doesn't need directing —

you just have to show up and pay attention.

Not every “great escape” goes to plan—and honestly, that’s what made this one memorable.

We rolled into Mount Kosciuszko a little too relaxed… starting the hike at 10:30am, thinking we had all the time in the world. What followed was 9 hours of steady climbing, chasing daylight, and learning the hard way how quickly the mountains can humble you.

We didn’t summit until 3:30pm. By the time we were heading back down, the temperature had dropped, the wind picked up, and that calm, scenic hike turned into a cold, wet grind to the finish line at 7pm.

But somewhere in the middle of it all—between the laughs, the silence, the “why did we start so late?” moments—it still delivered exactly what we came for. A reset. Just not the easy kind.

Shot the whole day on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in log and brought it to life in Video Editor—felt right capturing something raw with a simple setup.

If you’re planning this hike, learn from us:

• Start earlier than you think you need to
• Always pack for worse weather than forecast
• Don’t underestimate how fast conditions change
• Bring proper layers (you’ll thank yourself later)
• And leave time to actually enjoy the top

Sometimes the best days aren’t the perfect ones—they’re the ones that push you a bit further than expected.

Would still do it all again.

Should you film your videos with a phone or a camera? 📱🎥

While I’m a die-hard camera fan, I’ll be the first to admit: phones are incredible for capturing content on the fly.

That said… there are still a few big reasons a proper video camera is a game-changer when you want to create premium stories for your brand.

This is a short content series I’m putting together on the fly — and honestly, a nice low-pressure way to keep sharpening my presenting, filming, and editing skills too.
