NOW OPEN: JOHN YOUNG | A Changing Sky

"Young uses the elegant phrase 'electronic weather' to describe his process, as if the painting must survive a storm on its way to becoming. From this storm (of a thousand images), a single composition is selected, and the painting work begins. Each undulating composition takes many weeks, insisting on rhythm that is particular human" - Leah Jing McIntosh OAM

📍ARC ONE Gallery
📆 Until 4 July
🕛 10am - 5pm, Tuesdays - Saturdays.

Visit YOUNG's solo exhibition, A CHANGING SKY, currently on show at ARC ONE Gallery.

A Changing Sky moves through the atmosphere of filters and electronic weather before slowly returning to painting. Young works against the speed and indifference of technology; it is through painting that he insists on another rhythm that is patient, attentive and bodily.

Congratulations to John Young for his latest series of incredible paintings and thank you to everyone who attended the opening last night for a wonderful celebratory evening.

Also a massive thank you to Leah Jing Mcintosh for her beautiful talk about Young's practice.

A Changing Sky creates a space for reflection, where the works are not an escape from contemporary life but a way of reconnecting with the sensory, the poetic, and the deeply human.

A Changing Sky is open until 4 July 2026.

OPENING WEEK: JOHN YOUNG - A Changing Sky

We are extremely delighted to be opening John Young's exhibition A Changing Sky this coming Thursday night 6-8pm.

Inspired by the poetry of Kenneth White, the series North Road Travelling paintings reflects a contemplative northern journey into landscapes of snow, silence and winter light. Here, the terrain becomes indistinct, transformed into quietly polychromatic fields that oscillate between appearance and disappearance. The seemingly white surfaces contain an infinite density of information: traces of movement and memory embedded within restraint.

🗓️ Opening reception Thursday 4 June
🕕 6-8PM
📍 ARC ONE Gallery
All are welcome

📍ACE, Lion Art Centre, Adelaide (Kaurna Yarta)
📆 Open until 27 June 2026
Curators: Sasha Grbich, Danni Zuvela.

JACKY REDGATE is an exhibiting artist in the current show, 'Anarchive: Gut-feeling', an exhibition exploring how experimental art is experienced, reimagined and remembered.

'Bringing together eleven new commissions alongside rarely-seen historic works, the exhibition revisits experimental art through a living archive – one that includes artists and practices that have often been overlooked or underrepresented – particularly those by women.' - Excerpt from exhibition text.

REDGATE's career began in the early 1980s, at a major turning point in the art world internationally and nationally and during the groundbreaking debates of postmodernism, especially regarding the role that photography played. Since this time, REDGATE has continued to push her work and has explored the interplay of systems of perception and representation, particularly in relation to photography. Her work has continuing relevance, engaging with personal and impersonal systems, modernism and feminism.

NIKE SAVVAS | Public Artwork with UAP, Sydney Children's Hospital.

Congratulations to NIKE SAVVAS for the recent completion of her large scale installation artwork, ‘Chroma Cosmic’, at Sydney Children's Hospital.

'A kaleidoscope of radiant light, space, and colour - mesmerising and interactive, this work offers luminous portals into other worlds. From the microscopic to the cosmic, these coloured windows invite viewers to engage deeply with their own perception, connecting the body to both place and the universe through immersive encounters with colour.

At its heart, the work draws on the rainbow as a powerful symbol of confidence and optimism. Often appearing after a storm, the rainbow is a beacon of hope, promise and connection - representing beauty, transformation, and the enduring bonds of love and friendship.' - Excerpt from SAVVAS' artist statement.
