Vibes Music Australia Expands into Jakarta and Signs Two Emerging Indonesian Female DJs — SORA and AKOTO. Melbourne-based independent label enters Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing music market; announces discovery of two breakthrough Indonesian talents poised for international stages.
JAKARTA, June 3, 2026 — Vibes Music Australia, a Melbourne-based independent music company specialising in electronic music, artist development, and international distribution, today announced its official expansion into Jakarta, Indonesia. The move marks a pivotal step in the label’s Asia Pacific growth strategy — and its first formal foothold in Southeast Asia’s most commercially significant music market.
Simultaneous with the expansion, Vibes Music Australia confirmed the signing of two Indonesian female DJs: SORA (formerly known in Jakarta’s circuit as DJ Moza) and AKOTO (formerly DJ Armanda Koto). Both
artists were active fixtures of Jakarta’s underground and club scene before being re-introduced under their new international stage identities on the Vibes Music Australia label. “Jakarta has an incredibly vibrant music culture and a new generation of talented artists ready to connect with international audiences.
Our expansion represents a long-term investment in the region’s creative future”. Gerard Lasantha, Producer & A&R, Vibes Music Australia Jakarta: Southeast Asia’s Electronic Music Frontier. As one of Southeast Asia’s largest and fastest-growing music markets, Indonesia is emerging as a strategic gateway for artists seeking regional and international exposure. The country's young, digitally connected population, combined with the rapid growth of music streaming and social media-driven music discovery, has created new opportunities for electronic and dance music genres to reach mainstream audiences.
While Indonesian listeners continue to embrace local pop, indie, and international music, a growing segment of urban consumers—particularly Gen Z and Millennials in cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Bali—are increasingly engaging with electronic, melodic house, melodic techno, progressive
house, and festival-oriented music. Industry data also indicates that Indonesia has become one of the fastest-growing markets globally for electronic music consumption, reflecting the genre's rising popularity
across streaming platforms, social media, and live events. For independent labels, Indonesia offers a unique combination of scale, cultural diversity, and digital engagement. Music discovery is heavily influenced by streaming platforms, short-form video content, and live experiences, creating opportunities for artists who can connect authentically with audiences both online and on stage. Jakarta, in particular, has evolved into a regional hub for music, nightlife, festivals, content creators, and entertainment media, making it an ideal base for talent development and cross-border collaborations. Recognising this momentum, Vibes Music Australia is establishing Jakarta as a key regional platform to connect Southeast Asian talent with global opportunities. The company's Jakarta operations will focus on:
• Artist management and career development for Indonesian talent
• Music promotion, publicity, and media relations across Asia-Pacific markets
• Event partnerships and live performance facilitation
• International music distribution through Vibes Music Australia's established network
• Discovery, mentorship, and development of emerging artists across Southeast Asia
• Strategic collaborations between Indonesian, Australian, and international creators Introducing SORA and AKOTO
The Jakarta launch is spearheaded by two artists who represent the next generation of Indonesia's electronic music scene.
SORA — Previously known in Jakarta's electronic community as DJ Moza, SORA enters a new chapter with a global-facing artistic identity. Active as a DJ since 2019, she has built her reputation across Jakarta's key venues, including residencies at Cyber Reborn and Texas Club. Proficient across professional setups including the XDJ RX, CDJ 2000 Nexus, and CDJ 3, SORA moves fluidly across breakbeat, melodic techno,
jungle, Dutch, progressive, and house mashup — forging a sound that is technically grounded and creatively unpredictable. Her evolving style is designed to resonate with festival audiences, streaming listeners, and electronic music communities worldwide.
AKOTO — Formerly recognised as DJ Armanda Koto, AKOTO brings years of experience from Jakarta's dynamic club circuit, currently holding a full-time DJ position at New Viva Entertainment. Combining technical precision with commanding stage presence, AKOTO's rebrand marks a deliberate step toward
international expansion. Her sound draws from melodic techno, progressive house, and contemporary electronic influences, positioning her to engage audiences across diverse markets. As part of their international development strategy, Vibes Music Australia is already engaged in discussions with promoters, festival organisers, booking agencies, and industry partners across Asia, Australia, and
Europe regarding future performance opportunities, collaborative projects, and international festival appearances for both artists. The launch of Vibes Music Australia in Jakarta reflects the company's long-term commitment to nurturing. Indonesian talent and creating pathways for local artists to participate more actively in the global music
ecosystem. About Vibes Music Australia
