Meet Niamh Hill, one of our 2026 Level 8 students!

Originally from Queanbeyan, New South Wales, Niamh began ballet at four years old. Drawn in by her love of tutus, the colour pink, and an inability to sit still made ballet the perfect fit. Training at Lisa Clark Dance Centre helped shape both her passion for ballet and her confidence on stage through performances and competitions. In 2022, she moved to Melbourne to join Level 4 at The Australian Ballet School, where she has enjoyed working with inspiring teachers, peers, and choreographers including Simon Dow, Stephen Baynes, Prue Lang, and Lucas Jervies.

Niamh’s love for dance emanates from the connection between music and movement making it a unique form of expression and storytelling. She is looking forward to joining The Australian Ballet’s National Tour in the middle of the year. Niamh is always on the lookout for her next hobby as she loves developing new skills. Her most consistent pastimes include exploring music, reading and long chats with friends.

Meet Thomas Stevens, one of our 2026 Level 8 students!

Born in Yarraville and raised in Ballarat, Thomas discovered his love for performing early and began dance at age seven after watching his twin sister’s concert. He trained at the Academy of Classical Ballet before studying at Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School.

During his time at the school, Thomas has had the privilege of performing at the Sydney Opera House in The Australian Ballet School’s 60th Anniversary Gala, as well as working under choreographers such as Stephen Baynes, Paul Knobloch, Prue Lang and Kevin Jackson. Some of his highlights include performing in Rudolf Nureyev’s Don Quixote and George Balanchine’s Scotch Symphony.

In Level 7, Thomas was offered a secondment to Sydney Dance Company, marking one of his most memorable experiences at his time at the school. Being able to explore different movement qualities as well as a glimpse into company life peaked interest in the lifestyle of a professional dancer.

Showcasing vulnerability and human emotion is what Thomas enjoys the most about dancing, whether that be ballet or any other style of dance, he prides himself on being a versatile dancer. In his spare time Thomas likes to sew, and crochet whilst blasting Chappell Roan, Lady Gaga and of course, Beyoncé.

Meet Marsha Davis, one of our 2026 Level 8 students!

Marsha grew up in Sydney where she started dancing at the age of four, as she got older she soon developed a strong passion for the art form of classical ballet. She made the move to Melbourne in 2022 to join The Australian Ballet School, where she has cultivated both technical discipline and love for the art.
Some highlights from her time at the School include performing at the Sydney Opera House for the 60th Anniversary Gala in 2024, appearing in the 2025 production of Don Quixote Suite, and performing Lucas Jervies’ Concerto Anniversary in 2026.

In her graduating year, Marsha looks forward to exploring new places and performing across Australia on The Australian Ballet’s National Tour.

Outside of the studio, Marsha enjoys checking out new cafes, lying on the beach listening to music, or putting on a good movie. Fun fact: prior to pursuing ballet full-time, Marsha trained in gymnastics and figure skating!

A rare opportunity for our students, and for you.

We’re honoured to welcome Leanne Benjamin OBE, AM as our guest teacher, working with our Level 8 students over the coming weeks.

A Queensland-born artist with an extraordinary international career, Leanne danced as a Principal with Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet, London Festival Ballet, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and for 20 years with The Royal Ballet. Since retiring from the stage, she has become one of the world’s most sought-after coaches, serving as Principal Coach of The Royal Ballet and mentoring dancers across the globe.

Her leadership and impact on the artform are profound. Leanne has served as a Governor of the Royal Ballet Companies (including Vice Chair), is Patron and Chair of the Dance Board of the Tait Memorial Trust, and has recently held Artistic Director roles with UK Young Classical Dancer and Queensland Ballet.
Her honours include the De Valois Award, two Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards, and an Honorary Doctorate from The University of Queensland. She was also nominated for Australian of the Year and represented Australia at the Coronation of King Charles III.

We are thrilled our students can learn from her artistry, insight, and experience.

Meet Matia Ingrey, one of our 2026 Level 8 students and School Captains!

Born in Newcastle, Matia grew up on the golf course, but her love for dance ultimately won. Matia completed her early training at National College of Dance, where she feels fortunate to have learned under their exceptional faculty and particularly under the guidance of Brett Morgan OAM.

In 2022, Matia joined The Australian Ballet School following a full scholarship offer from her performances at the Sydney Eisteddfod Ballet Scholarship, an achievement she regards with sincere appreciation.

Since then, Matia has danced in productions including Scotch Symphony, represented the school at the Prix de Lausanne, where she worked with world‑renowned choreographer Edwaard Liang, and was even seconded to The Australian Ballet to perform in La Bayadère. She is excited to perform on The Australian Ballet’s upcoming National Tour in excerpts from The Nutcracker, and brand new work Chrysalis by Stephanie Lake.

When she’s not training, Matia enjoys walking through the Botanic Gardens with a coffee in hand, discovering Melbourne's unique dining experiences with friends and soaking up life in a city she loves.
