There was no dust to settle after this year’s lush 🏞️🤍

After six amazing years of providing audio for the Pitch Black stage, we were invited to make the exciting move over to the newly redesigned stage last weekend.

Working alongside the pitch core production team () and stage and lighting designers .raito, we were able to fly the PA once again while working within the circular stage design. It was a pleasure working alongside Colin, Tijs, and .harwood supporting the aural aspect of the incredible visual immersion they created in the space.

Another year down at pitch, and potentially the best one yet. We’re super proud of this one & can’t wait for next year!

Cat’s out of the bag!

This one’s been a long time coming, but we are so excited to have launched our new Evo 7 touring rig on one of the best dancefloors we have the privilege of supplying audio for, ’s Deep Jungle stage last weekend.

We’ve been slowly acquiring enough boxes over the last few years to make this system happen, and are stoked with the end result.

To kick things off before the season gets into full swing, a hazy weekend in the Otways for .i.ker a few weeks ago. We provided audio for two stages, an indoor and outdoor one with different needs, bespoke deployments and some really nice results.

Some memories of the last few weeks of gigging for us here at Purple.

Kicking off the run was our good friends at Homesick, putting on an incredible display of stage design & performance in an iconic space, The Thornbury Theatre. We ran a 2 over 2 formation with the Evo 7’s and two blocks of 3 in cardioid for the F121s

A week later we drove an hour east to the small town of Crossover for the second Zeerust. A weekend long festival sporting multiple smaller spaces, as well as iconic outdoor performances. It’s always such a pleasure working with the Z crew, and we can’t wait to see what they do next!

Last weekend saw two incredible, but vastly different audio deployments on the same day. The first was for long-standing friend of Purple, Echo Beach by Finding Figaro. Always upgrading year after year, and as capacities get larger saw our biggest Echo deployment to date, with 10x Evo’s a side on top of 4x F124 per side. One of our favourite events of the calendar and a must attend!

And lastly, Daybreak Festival. We were very excited to tackle the acoustically challenging space of an above ground, concrete-laden carpark and were satisfied with the results. Running a broadside cardioid sub array gave us horizontal directivity control with bass which was needed for neighbours close-by, and we were able to keep the dance floor at 100dB at 20m without getting noise complaints from neighbours

Two stages in Canberra for ! Our interstate adventures remained in full swing, with Digi being our first time ever setting up a rig in the capital last weekend.

We had a lot of fun with this one, and got some seriously impressive results with the delta sub array. There isn’t always the infrastructure available to break from traditional left/right stacking so a massive thank you to Digi for giving us creative & physics freedom with this deployment.

We achieved super wide coverage with the R4 outfills on top of the F121 subs, operating at a really narrow frequency band asymetrically. This gives the subs a really low workload and super high efficiency, widening the bass even further throughout the dancefloor.

Four days, four shows and a few extra hires within, what a way to start ‘24!

Our new years adventure began at a freshly formed cycle celebration called un:send near Daylesford. Organised and operated by some extremely talented people with deep ties to the music scene, it was an honour to provide sound for their first foray into an intimate music festival.

While un:send was in full swing, the other half of the team were busy at work setting up Let Them Eat Cake’s Guillotine stage. This was our first time using 8x F124 in a single stack and had incredible results throughout the dancefloor. Accompanying the low end thump of the 24’s, we used 6x F121 asymetrically for the top-end of the kick, and mid-hi support provided by the ever trusty Evo 7 with a two over two formation.

But we weren’t finished yet. With un:send finishing at 5pm, we had a five hour turnaround time from bump out to music starting at the LTEC after party in the mansion. Our un:send crew got straight to work in transporting and bumping in the rig from Daylesford to the Werribee Mansion in record time, with two stages operating until the AM of the 3rd of Jan

Alongside the LTEC AP, we had a team over at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for the Big Bash providing backline and monitor operation for the half time entertainment. Using our SQ6 and a full pioneer DJ backline for the show, and our recently acquired Quest QM12MP monitors.
.. time for some much needed rest. A huge thank you to anybody who said hi, or provided some lovely feedback on our work this weekend. Seeing smiling faces on the dancefloor, or comments on the sound makes our day and we feel incredibly proud to provide our services for so many exciting events with our small but mighty crew ☀️❤️
