We were thrilled to see our prints ‘Untitled’, 2023 by Melinda Harper & ‘To the Beach’, 2023 by Katherine Hattam enter the Maroondah City Council Art Collection & equally chuffed that they have been included in the exhibition ‘Power of Print’ at Realm Gallery.

Curated by , ‘Power of Print’ reflects the enormous creative potential that resides in the meeting of ink and printing matrix with paper, and the continued fascination the print medium holds for artists.

The exhibition features original prints by Australian artists from the Maroondah City Council Art Collection dating from 1977 to 2025. Behind the artworks are artists as diverse as the range of printmaking techniques they employ.

It’s a great exhibition, so get yourself along before 26 January 2026.

When we started Kaleidoscope Editions we said we were united by our shared love of champagne, shoes & dogs but we didn’t expect Kirsty’s dog Ricoh to take his involvement so seriously!

Dog hair a special bonus with every Kaleidoscope Editions print! 😉💕

‘The Bottle Shop’, 2025 is part of Peter Atkins’ ongoing series of “Readymade Abstractions” in which the artist uses aspects of everyday life—for example, signage, billboards and product packaging—as the inspiration for his work, appropriating elements from these sources to create his own, more distilled, abstract versions. This series of three prints was inspired by a poster advertising Gin, Vodka and White Rum displayed outside a local bottle shop along Melbourne’s bustling Sydney Road, not far from the artist’s home and studio. Atkins has reimagined the starburst forms on this poster in three colourways to reference specific cocktails, with the large silver form (consistent across all three prints) representing the clear liquid of the three white spirits. The resulting works are titled ‘Gin and Tonic (yellow)’ ‘Vodka and Orange (orange)’ and ‘Martini (olive)’. The transparency of the overlaid forms in these striking prints also suggests a sense of movement and fluidity, of liquids being mixed, combining to blend these classic cocktails.

We’ll be exhibiting Peter Atkins’ works at Sydney Contemporary’s PAPER from 11-14 September at Carriageworks. Come & say hello at Stand B07.

Rob McHaffie's 'While we rest the forest grows', 2025 engages with themes of personal healing, family, human relationships and the foibles of contemporary life.
Drawn from the experience and memory of a family visit to the Otway Ranges and the immersion in nature it provided, McHaffie's is a serene and tender vision of what might happen after, when the hike is over. Resting within the safety and luxury of their eco-accommodation, the couple are repaired and soothed into peaceful relaxation, with gratitude for the continued generosity of the natural world. In this print, the artist uses the painterly effects of the lithographic process, which relies on the principle that grease and water repel each other, to achieve beautiful washes of colour that bring a sense of tenderness to his linear drawing style.
