Truthclub - presented by Darebin Arts Speakeasy
Led by award winning choreographer Jonathan Homsey, this is the performance debut of a periodic collective – untitled likeminded dancers of colour.

In a nightclub in a (not-so-distant) future, there is only one place to decipher society and get to the truth.

Enter the TRUTHCLUB, where dance is an antidote to fake news.

TRUTHCLUB is our new home built to shake off systemic false beliefs. Led from the lived experiences of young people of colour, TRUTHCLUB playfully takes the frustrations of Australian prejudices, shakes them up and serves them on the rocks.

A cross between performance art and a 2008 risqué music video, TRUTHCLUB is set to an epic soundtrack by local artists Yeo, Stevzar, Pookie, Oscar Key Sung, Kuya Neil, Khya, Nerftiti LaNegra & Bhairavi Raman.

Across three nights, TRUTHCLUB honours street and cultural dance in a safe haven to speak the truth, address collective experiences and transmute it onto the dancefloor in a cathartic celebration.

Share anonymously your truth of what is on your mind. It can be featured in TRUTHCLUB.

The Theory of Relativity - A fresh modern musical you will not want to miss.
Presented by Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School
Wednesday 3rd - Saturday 6th August 2022
7:30pm - 9pm

Over one act, The Theory of Relativity powerfully delivers a captivating collection of relevant contemporary songs, cleverly using concepts from physics to show how people can be in each other’s orbit, not particularly aware of one another, but still connected in some way.

It recounts the separate stories of a university physics major, two best ‘frenemies’, some coffee shop regulars, a girl who has had a difficult upbringing, a newly engaged graduate, and many more.

Excitingly unconventional, and expertly performed by our senior Performing Arts students and band, the show includes many impressive vocal numbers; some which may bring a tear to your eye and others which are likely to become your new favourite sing-along songs.

Duration: 75 minutes, with no intermission
Age Suitability: 2 years and up
Content warnings: Smoke and haze
