We're pleased to share our next Blak Writers Group Masterclass will be hosted by Dakota Feirer! He is a Bundjalung and Gumbaynggirr storyteller, working with a diversity of mediums to address Indigenous resurgence, masculinity, ecological and cultural repair.

Dakota will guide participants in attending to the archival darkness of ‘natural history’ whilst exploring herbaria as a site of Country, memory and ghosts. This workshop invites participants to approach creative writing as a mode of counternarrative resistance, ontological repair and a tool for redesignating Indigenous relations throughout the world.

Blak & Bright has formally submitted recommendations to inform the development of our next National Cultural Policy.

Independent Blak-led orgs are part of the cultural infrastructure of this Country, and the future of our arts can’t continue to be built on extraction and advisory relationships.

Our submission, along with those of so many of our sibling orgs, has been provided to the Federal Government. The full submission can be read on our website.

We're pleased to share our next Blak Writers Group Masterclass will be hosted by Lisa Fuller! Lisa is a Wuilli Wuilli woman from Eidsvold Queensland, also descended from Wakka Wakka and Gooreng Gooreng peoples.

Lisa will take you through a truncated version of how she starts her projects, with a focus on trying things on for size to figure out what works for you (or what doesn’t). We’ll have a taster of her editing process and try re-framing familiar spaces to add ‘texture’ to your world and characters.
