I've learned that things rarely unfold the way you map them out ... but somewhere in the detour, there's always something worth keeping.
This week that's looked like more hours in the studio, more space to just sit with sound and see what comes.
People ask how these mixes come together, so here's the honest answer; slowly, and with care. I don't chase what's hot, I wait for the ones that catch onto something inside me, and when enough of them gather, I start listening for how they want to sit next to each other. The goal is never a playlist. It's an hour that breathes, that rises, holds, and lets go.
So each of one of these mixes is quite unique, and is more of a self-portrait, down to the exact feeling it carries with it.
This one's called Saudade — a Portuguese word for a longing you can't quite point to, an ache for something unnamed. It kept circling me while I built this. I've been deep in my own becoming lately, pulling things apart and putting them back together, and somewhere in that the mix started to mirror it back to me.
If you press play, don't just hear it. Let it carry you. Sink into the rises and the falls, and come spend an hour somewhere inside my head.
