Always walk away from these days feeling such gratitude in being trusted to hold space for connection, expression and collective healing for our mob that dedicate their lives to working on the frontline 🙌🏽🖤

It’s coming to an end of a busy NAIDOC Week period. To wrap it up I was lucky enough to facilitate a full day cultural immersion experience at the school my three beautiful kids attend. A deep pride in the realisation that I would have done anything to do something like this when I were their age, alongside my dad. His experience as a person of the stolen generations neglected him of such opportunity. In one way, this is the exact reason I’ve poured my heart and soul into Yarn Bark over the years. Proud Dad moment for sure. 🖤💛❤️

Over the past 12 Months Yarn Bark has worked alongside Odyssey Victoria to lead the co-design and development of an online learning experience targeted at building the capacity and competence of Non-Indigenous Services and Clinicians providing AOD & Mental Health Treatment and Care to First Nations Community across the State. This year Yarn Bark is delivering 14 “Healing our Healers On Country” Workshops for the Bendigo & District Aboriginal Co-Op.

Throughout the workshops over 250 staff members will be encouraged to slow down, connect deeply and look inwards to their own wellbeing, healing and self care.

These experiences are being facilitated in response to the issues of burnout, overwhelm and vicarious trauma that so often both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people fighting on the frontline to provide a service to our mob are impacted by.

Three workshops down, eleven to go. Yarn Bark is incredibly grateful for every person that sits in a circle that we hold. These workshops can be tailored to suit both Mainstream and Aboriginal Led Organisations that need to focus more on their individual and collective wellbeing. 🙌🏽❤️

Yarn Bark recently went on a trip to Cobar NSW to collect timber for a series of traditional craft and well-being workshops being delivered for Aboriginal Young Men throughout 2025.

A week prior to departing to Cobar, we randomly reached out to Anita from Four Corners Farm Stay after a deep internet search and from the first phone call struck a shared connection between our values and visions for programs to support young people throughout regional and remote communities.

Upon our arrival to Four Corners Farm Stay Anita was incredibly welcoming. We were blown away by the natural beauty of the landscape and the facilities that the farm stay had on offer for families, young people, organisation groups and visitors from all corners of the country.

Although a short stay, meaningful conversations were had that sparked visions for longer term opportunities that would see Yarn Bark work alongside Four Corners Farm Stay to collaborate with other local community groups / members to bring to life programs to support young people in the community to thrive.

We are deeply grateful for the generosity and support of Anita, Ken and her broader family and look forward to continuing to deepen the relationship with Four Corners Farm Stay and the Cobar / Surrounds community into the long term future. Your support will flow on to impact the lives of many young people Yarn Bark engage in 2025 🙌🏽💛

Last night was the end of a seven workshop traditional craft and wellbeing program for Aboriginal Dads at the Yappera Childcare in Melbourne. It was incredible to have Dads and their kids move through this experience together throughout the year. Thanks so much to all those involved 🙌🏽❤️
